Senior SAP Basis & IBM DB2 Administrator

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior SAP Basis & IBM DB2 Administrator to join our dynamic team at Datamatics Technologies in Riyadh. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the administration, optimization, and maintenance of our SAP systems and IBM DB2 databases, ensuring seamless operations, high performance, and robust security across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in SAP Basis administration and IBM DB2 database management, coupled with a strong commitment to driving operational excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• SAP Basis Administration: Manage and oversee the SAP Basis infrastructure, including system installation, configuration, and upgrades. Ensure the stability, availability, and performance of SAP applications, including ECC, S/4HANA, and other modules, while adhering to best practices and industry standards.
• IBM DB2 Database Management: Administer, monitor, and optimize IBM DB2 databases to ensure high availability, data integrity, and efficient performance. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as backups, recoveries, and performance tuning to meet business requirements.
• System Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Proactively monitor SAP and DB2 environments using advanced tools and methodologies to identify and resolve issues before they impact business operations. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Security & Compliance: Implement and enforce security policies, access controls, and compliance measures to safeguard sensitive data and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to mitigate risks and maintain a secure IT environment.
• Performance Optimization: Analyze system performance metrics and implement optimization strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve user experience. Work closely with cross-functional teams to align IT infrastructure with business objectives.
• Disaster Recovery & High Availability: Design, implement, and maintain disaster recovery plans and high-availability solutions to ensure business continuity in the event of system failures or disruptions. Conduct regular testing and validation of recovery procedures.
• Collaboration & Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement. Collaborate with stakeholders across IT and business functions to align technology solutions with organizational goals.
• Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Liaise with SAP and IBM support teams, as well as third-party vendors, to resolve technical issues, manage service-level agreements (SLAs), and ensure timely resolution of critical incidents.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., SAP Basis, IBM DB2, ITIL, or PMP) are highly desirable.
• Technical Expertise: Minimum of 7-10 years of hands-on experience in SAP Basis administration and IBM DB2 database management, with a proven track record in enterprise-level environments. Proficiency in SAP NetWeaver, SAP HANA, and IBM DB2 LUW is essential.
• Certifications: SAP Certified Technology Associate – System Administration (SAP Basis) and IBM Certified Database Administrator – DB2 LUW are preferred.
• Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in SAP system landscapes, including installation, configuration, and upgrades.
  • Strong knowledge of IBM DB2 database administration, including performance tuning, backup/recovery, and security management.
  • Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows Server) and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., SAP Solution Manager, IBM Data Studio, Nagios) and automation scripts (e.g., Shell, Python, Perl).
  • Understanding of ITIL processes, change management, and incident resolution methodologies.
• Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Leadership qualities and the ability to mentor junior team members are highly valued.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
