Role Overview
As a Depot Workshop Equipment (DWE) Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the operational efficiency, safety, and reliability of rolling stock assets within our dynamic transportation environment. Reporting to the DWE Manager, you will provide hands-on leadership to maintenance teams, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and uphold stringent quality and compliance standards. This role demands a proactive approach to asset management, strategic problem-solving, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver sustainable solutions that align with business objectives and localisation initiatives in Saudi Arabia.
Key Responsibilities
- Asset Maintenance & Strategy: Oversee the maintenance, repair, and lifecycle management of Depot Workshop Equipment, ensuring adherence to predictive and condition-based maintenance protocols. Develop and implement asset strategies to enhance reliability and reduce downtime.
- Maintenance Planning & Execution: Coordinate and execute maintenance activities in alignment with work plans and maintenance manuals. Ensure all tasks are performed to the highest quality standards while maintaining strict compliance with metro and industry regulations.
- Technical Leadership & Troubleshooting: Provide expert guidance to maintenance teams in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues. Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Incident Reporting initiatives to identify systemic failures and implement corrective actions.
- Team Development & Management: Support the DWE Manager in hiring, training, and evaluating team members. Foster a culture of continuous improvement through targeted training programs and performance assessments to build a skilled and motivated workforce.
- Documentation & Compliance: Collaborate with the technical team to review, modify, and approve maintenance documentation, design drawings, and operational procedures. Ensure all change management processes are rigorously evaluated to mitigate operational risks.
- Procurement & Technical Analysis: Assist procurement teams by providing technical insights for Requests for Quotation (RFQs), Bill of Materials (BOM) development, and tender evaluations. Explore alternative equipment manufacturers to support localisation goals, focusing on cost efficiency and quality enhancement.
- Safety & Quality Assurance: Enforce strict safety protocols, including the correct use of tooling and equipment. Conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks to reinforce best practices and ensure a secure working environment for all personnel.
- Deputy Responsibilities: Act as a deputy to the DWE Manager or Head of Transit Systems, providing support in strategic initiatives, operational planning, and decision-making processes as required.
Qualifications & Experience
To excel in this role, you must possess a blend of technical expertise, leadership acumen, and industry-specific experience. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:
- Education: A Technical Diploma is the minimum requirement, though a degree in Engineering is highly desirable. Additional certifications in Lean or Six Sigma methodologies are advantageous.
- Industry Experience: Minimum of 5 years in system-related roles within the rail, aviation, or transportation sectors, with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Technical & Analytical Skills: Proven experience in developing Bill of Materials, participating in procurement processes, and providing technical clarifications for tenders. Strong background in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is essential.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Demonstrated ability to build and influence relationships across all organisational levels, from frontline teams to senior management. Experience in providing input to executive leadership is a key asset.
- Problem-Solving & Innovation: A track record of analysing asset performance, predicting potential failures, and proposing solutions to extend asset lifecycles. Commitment to driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
