Control Operator – Industrial Automation Specialist (POLCID)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced DCS Engineer to join our team as a Control Operator. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of industrial control and automation systems. Your expertise will ensure the safe, reliable, and uninterrupted operation of our plant, driving operational excellence and minimizing downtime. This position is ideal for a technical professional with a strong background in distributed control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLC), who thrives in a dynamic industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

As a Control Operator, your core duties will include:

• Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of DCS and PLC systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• System Programming and Configuration: Develop, modify, and optimize PLC and DCS programs to meet evolving operational requirements and enhance system efficiency.
• Commissioning and Startup Support: Provide technical expertise during system commissioning and plant startup activities, ensuring seamless integration and adherence to safety and performance standards.
• Industrial Communication Networks: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial communication networks, including PROFIBUS, PROFINET, and EtherNet/IP, to ensure robust and high-speed data transmission.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with plant operation and maintenance teams to support daily activities, resolve technical issues, and implement best practices for system reliability.
• System Integration: Lead system integration projects, configuring and optimizing network architectures to enhance interoperability and performance across all automation systems.

Requirements

To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Experience: Minimum of five years of hands-on experience in industrial process automation, with a proven track record in DCS and PLC systems.
• Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience with Siemens SIMATIC PCS 7, Rockwell Automation ControlLogix, and FactoryTalk systems.
• Network Expertise: Strong background in industrial communication networks, including configuration, troubleshooting, and system integration.
• Industry Knowledge: Prior experience in cement plants or other continuous process industries is highly desirable, as it demonstrates familiarity with the unique challenges of such environments.

Preferred Skills

While not mandatory, the following skills and competencies will enhance your candidacy:

• Advanced knowledge of Siemens PCS 7, ControlLogix, and FactoryTalk systems.
• Proficiency in industrial automation protocols such as PROFIBUS, PROFINET, and EtherNet/IP.
• Expertise in troubleshooting complex automation systems and identifying root causes of issues.
• Experience with system integration projects, including hardware and software configuration.
