Position Overview

We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Materials Inspector to join our esteemed Project and Construction Management team based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This pivotal role is integral to our Infrastructure Division, where you will play a critical part in delivering high-impact Civil Engineering and Transportation projects, including roads, highways, bridges, and tunnels in dynamic urban settings. Your expertise will ensure the integrity, compliance, and quality of all materials utilized throughout the project lifecycle, aligning with our commitment to excellence and sustainable development.

Key Responsibilities

As a Materials Inspector, you will be entrusted with a range of responsibilities to uphold the highest standards of material quality and project execution. Your core duties will include:

  • Daily Inspection and Verification: Conduct thorough inspections of materials delivered to the site, ensuring strict adherence to approved submittals, project specifications, and contractual requirements. Verify material certifications, test results, and compliance documentation prior to approval for use.
  • Storage and Handling Oversight: Monitor and enforce proper storage, handling, and protection measures for all materials to prevent degradation or non-compliance with established standards.
  • Quality Assurance Coordination: Collaborate closely with contractors, QA/QC teams, and discipline engineers to address discrepancies, resolve material non-conformities, and ensure timely resolution of quality-related issues.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain meticulous inspection logs, reports, and documentation to provide a comprehensive record of all materials inspected, tested, and approved. Assist in the review of materials-related submittals and test reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Non-Compliance Management: Identify and document rejected or non-compliant materials, ensuring their removal from the site in accordance with quality procedures and project protocols.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Participate actively in site meetings focused on materials acceptance, quality assurance, and project progression. Support the implementation of project quality management systems within the materials domain to enhance overall project outcomes.
  • Traceability and Compliance: Work alongside the supervision team to ensure proper traceability and testing compliance for all materials used, fostering a culture of accountability and precision.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • Educational Background: A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in project management, with a strong focus on onsite landscaping and construction within mega infrastructure projects.
  • Technical Proficiency: A deep understanding of construction, design, and engineering principles, coupled with familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Language and Communication: Fluency in English is essential, with proficiency in Arabic considered a valuable asset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Soft Skills: Demonstrated ability in report writing, problem-solving, teamwork, autonomy, flexibility, and technical rigor. A willingness to thrive in a multicultural and multinational work environment is highly desirable.

Additional Requirements

  • A valid Transferable Iqama for non-Saudi candidates.
  • Residency in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
  • Active membership in the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
