Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Logistics Officer to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for orchestrating the seamless movement of construction materials, heavy equipment, tools, and supplies to our project sites, ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to project timelines. Your expertise will be instrumental in supporting uninterrupted project execution by collaborating closely with Procurement, Warehouse, Site Operations, and external logistics partners while maintaining strict compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) standards.
Key Responsibilities
The Logistics Officer will play a central role in the following areas:
- Transportation & Delivery Coordination: Develop and execute comprehensive logistics plans to facilitate the timely and cost-effective transportation of construction materials, equipment, tools, and machinery to designated project sites.
- Shipment Monitoring & Tracking: Oversee shipment schedules, proactively track deliveries, and resolve any logistical challenges, delays, or discrepancies to prevent disruptions in project timelines.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a liaison between Procurement, Warehouse, Site Engineers, and Project Managers to ensure optimal material availability and mitigate potential delays.
- Supplier & Logistics Partner Management: Engage with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, transport companies, and other third-party logistics providers to streamline operations and enhance service delivery.
- Documentation & Compliance: Prepare, review, and maintain essential shipping documents, delivery notes, customs documentation, transport records, and logistics reports to ensure regulatory compliance and operational transparency.
- Customs & Import/Export Support: Facilitate smooth import and export activities, including customs clearance, while ensuring adherence to international trade regulations and company protocols.
- Equipment Mobilization & Demobilization: Coordinate the efficient mobilization and demobilization of construction equipment and project assets to and from site locations.
- Cost Optimization & Efficiency: Monitor logistics expenditures and identify strategic opportunities to enhance cost efficiency and operational performance.
- Inventory & Storage Management: Ensure proper storage, handling, and distribution of materials in compliance with company procedures and HSE requirements, maintaining accurate inventory records within the ERP system.
- Performance Reporting: Generate periodic logistics performance reports and KPI dashboards to provide actionable insights for continuous improvement.
- Policy & Standard Compliance: Uphold company policies, quality standards, and HSE procedures to foster a safe and compliant work environment.
- Additional Duties: Undertake any other logistics-related responsibilities as assigned by the Logistics Manager to support the overall objectives of the organization.
Qualifications & Experience
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Professional certifications in Logistics or Supply Chain Management are advantageous.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in logistics, supply chain, or materials management, with a focus on the construction, EPC, infrastructure, or industrial sectors. Prior experience in coordinating the movement of construction materials, heavy equipment, tools, and machinery to multiple project sites is essential.
- Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with project logistics planning, site material coordination, and warehouse operations. Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, import/export procedures, customs clearance, and freight forwarding is required. Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent is highly preferred.
- Regional Experience: Previous exposure to large-scale construction projects in the GCC/Middle East region is considered a significant asset.
