Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable (AR) Supervisor to oversee the accounts receivable function within our dynamic real estate team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient management of receivables, fostering timely collections, and maintaining robust financial records. This position demands a proactive approach, strong analytical capabilities, and exceptional leadership skills to enhance cash flow management and support the company’s financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Supervision: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounts receivable department, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to company policies and accounting standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the property management team to guarantee timely billing, accurate tenant account updates, and prompt resolution of any discrepancies or issues that may arise.
- Receivables Management: Monitor tenant receivables diligently, proactively pursuing collections for rents, service charges, and other outstanding amounts to optimize cash flow.
- Collection Strategies: Initiate and follow up on overdue accounts through systematic communication channels, including calls, emails, and formal collection notices, to minimize outstanding balances.
- Account Reconciliation: Conduct thorough reconciliations of tenant accounts and investigate billing discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy and compliance with contractual agreements.
- Issue Resolution: Collaborate with leasing, property management, and finance teams to address and resolve payment-related challenges, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present AR aging reports, providing regular updates on collection performance, outstanding balances, and trends to senior management.
- Process Improvement: Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance collection efficiency, reduce overdue receivables, and strengthen overall financial health.
- Compliance and Controls: Ensure strict adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls to maintain the integrity of financial records and mitigate risks.
- Month-End Support: Assist in month-end closing activities related to accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Team Development: Supervise and mentor AR staff, fostering a high-performance culture and providing opportunities for professional growth and development.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with a minimum of five years of progressive experience in accounts receivable, preferably within the real estate or property management sector. Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills are essential, as is proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
