Site Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Engineer – Asphalt Operations to join our dynamic team in Qiddiya. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, supervision, and execution of aggregate base and asphalt paving activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, and construction schedules. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in delivering high-quality pavement works while maintaining stringent safety standards, optimizing resources, and ensuring meticulous documentation and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

The Site Engineer – Asphalt Operations will be tasked with the following core responsibilities:

• Planning and Execution:
  • Develop and implement daily work plans for aggregate base course and asphalt paving operations in alignment with the approved construction program.
  • Verify site readiness prior to paving activities, including subgrade preparation, survey setting-out, levels, priming, tack coat application, and surface acceptance.
  • Coordinate with asphalt plant operators, logistics teams, and construction personnel to ensure seamless material supply and uninterrupted paving operations.
  • Monitor and control critical paving parameters such as paving temperatures, screed settings, layer thickness, joint integrity, rolling patterns, and compaction standards.
  • Supervise aggregate base laying activities, ensuring adherence to moisture content, grading, density, compaction, and dimensional tolerances.
• Quality Assurance and Technical Compliance:
  • Ensure all construction activities strictly comply with approved drawings, project specifications, method statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and industry quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Survey, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), and laboratory teams to facilitate inspections, field testing, and verification of line, level, thickness, and compaction.
  • Identify quality deviations and implement immediate corrective actions, escalating significant non-conformities to the Pavement Manager as required.
  • Maintain comprehensive testing and inspection records, ensuring they are readily accessible for client and consultant reviews.
• Resource and Site Management:
  • Supervise and manage on-site personnel, subcontractors, equipment, and material resources to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate daily work activities to meet production targets while minimizing delays and material wastage.
  • Monitor equipment performance and coordinate maintenance activities to prevent operational disruptions.
• Progress Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Maintain precise daily site records, including executed quantities, asphalt tonnage, workforce utilization, equipment performance, weather conditions, delays, and site activities.
  • Prepare detailed progress reports and provide accurate quantity measurements and supporting documentation for interim payment applications and project invoicing.
  • Assist in monitoring project progress against the construction schedule and recommend corrective measures to address deviations.
• Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
  • Ensure full compliance with project Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements and company safety policies.
  • Conduct daily toolbox talks and promote a culture of safety across all site personnel.
  • Ensure paving operations are executed safely, with proactive risk identification and mitigation measures in place.
• Coordination and Communication:
  • Participate in coordination meetings with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
  • Implement client and consultant instructions while ensuring compliance with contractual and technical requirements.
  • Maintain effective communication channels with all project stakeholders to facilitate smooth execution of site activities.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Certifications: Professional certifications related to pavement construction or quality management are advantageous.
• Experience: Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in road, highway, airport, or major infrastructure projects.
