Position Overview
Hitachi Rail is seeking a skilled and experienced Rolling Stock Technician to join our dynamic team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, inspection, and repair of rolling stock assets, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and reliability across our rail operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in railway systems, a commitment to excellence, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance and Inspection: Perform routine and scheduled maintenance on rolling stock, including locomotives, passenger coaches, and freight wagons, in accordance with industry standards and manufacturer guidelines. Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Diagnostic and Repair Work: Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems. Execute repairs and replacements to restore rolling stock to operational condition, minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency.
- Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and company policies during maintenance and repair activities. Ensure that all rolling stock meets stringent safety and quality standards before returning to service.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs using digital and paper-based systems. Generate detailed reports for management, highlighting any recurring issues or areas requiring improvement.
- Collaboration and Training: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, supervisors, and other technicians, to share knowledge and best practices. Participate in training programs to stay updated on the latest technologies and methodologies in rolling stock maintenance.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to breakdowns or service disruptions, performing on-site repairs or coordinating logistics to minimize operational impact. Maintain a high level of readiness to address urgent maintenance needs.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Diploma or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A degree in a relevant discipline is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in rolling stock maintenance, with a proven track record in a railway or transportation environment. Experience with modern diagnostic equipment and software is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems, as well as familiarity with railway safety standards and regulations. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail are essential.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a high-pressure environment. Fluency in English is required; additional language skills are a valuable asset.
- Certifications: Valid certifications in relevant technical fields, such as electrical safety or welding, are advantageous. A valid driver’s license may also be required.
