Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Airport Supervisor to join our dynamic team at Jeddah (JED) Airport. In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the seamless execution of daily airport operations while upholding the highest standards of safety, security, and efficiency. Reporting directly to the Airport Manager, you will assist in overseeing operational and security functions, fostering strong relationships with civil aviation authorities, Ground Handling Agents (GHAs), and Ground Service Agents (GSAs), and driving continuous improvement in service delivery. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices, all while optimizing operational performance and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

The Airport Supervisor will be entrusted with a diverse range of responsibilities, including:

  • Operational and Security Oversight: Assist the Airport Manager in monitoring daily operational and security functions to ensure adherence to Air Arabia’s policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Supervise ramp, check-in, safety, and security operations, promptly addressing deviations or delays to maintain smooth workflow.
  • Emergency and Disruption Management: Act as a liaison between the Airport Manager, Flight Operations, and Maintenance Control Center (MCC) to manage Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations, technical delays, service disruptions, and emergency responses. Facilitate swift resolution to minimize operational impact.
  • Incident Reporting and Compliance: Ensure all incidents, accidents, and dangerous goods-related occurrences are documented and reported to the Airport Manager, Head Office, and relevant local authorities using standardized formats and communication channels. Monitor compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, escalating non-compliance issues for corrective action.
  • Agent Supervision and Support: Provide guidance and training to handling agent staff, ensuring they deliver efficient passenger services and adhere to operational procedures. Issue instructive plans and support agents in navigating complex or critical situations to maintain service excellence.
  • Performance and Financial Monitoring: Evaluate the performance of GHAs and GSAs against service level agreements, focusing on metrics such as service quality, payments, and communication. Analyze delay and performance reports to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement, recommending enhancements to protect Air Arabia’s financial interests and corporate reputation.
  • Customer Service and Revenue Management: Monitor baggage handling systems, trace lost luggage, and investigate customer complaints to ensure timely resolution. Oversee revenue-generating services such as excess baggage fees, go-shows, wheelchair assistance, and seat sales, supporting the airport team in meeting financial targets while delivering exceptional service.
  • Quality Assurance and Audit Support: Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Safety, and Security Departments to conduct audit checks, ensuring adherence to established standards and timely closure of findings. Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes and safety protocols.
  • Reporting and Deputization: Prepare and submit comprehensive reports to the Airport Manager and Head Office, including Flight Handling Reports, Disruption Reports, Incidents/Accidents Reports, and Customer Complaints Reports. Act as a deputy to the Airport Manager in their absence, ensuring uninterrupted leadership and operational continuity.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and possess the following competencies:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Management, Administration, or a related field from a recognized university. Alternatively, a diploma in a relevant discipline combined with substantial work experience will be considered.
  • Training and Certifications: Must have completed basic training in airport safety and security procedures. Certifications in IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, Passenger Handling, and Ground Operations Procedures are mandatory. Additional certifications in Cost Control, Compliance, and Quality Assurance are highly advantageous.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Passenger Handling Systems and Departure Control Systems (DCS). Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and internet/web search tools.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, including report writing and professional correspondence. Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Arabic may be required for certain regions.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze performance data, identify trends, and implement solutions to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Leadership and Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Capable of deputizing senior management and making critical decisions under pressure.
