Position Overview
The Airport Supervisor at RUH plays a pivotal role in supporting the Airport Manager to oversee, monitor, and enhance daily operational activities at the station. This position is instrumental in ensuring the highest standards of safety, security, punctuality, efficiency, and workflow optimization, all while strictly adhering to the company’s policies and regulatory mandates. The Airport Supervisor serves as a key liaison between Air Arabia, civil aviation authorities, Ground Handling Agents (GHAs), and Ground Services Agents (GSAs), fostering collaborative relationships to streamline operations, achieve operational excellence, and minimize costs. This role demands a proactive approach, strong leadership, and the ability to resolve complex operational challenges with precision and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Under the direct supervision of the Airport Manager, the Airport Supervisor is entrusted with a diverse range of responsibilities designed to uphold operational integrity and service quality. These responsibilities include:
- Operational and Security Oversight: Monitoring daily operational and security functions to ensure seamless execution in alignment with Air Arabia’s policies, procedures, and the station’s operational manual. This includes supervising briefings, debriefings, ramp operations, check-in processes, safety protocols, and security measures, while promptly reporting any deviations or delays to the Airport Manager for resolution.
- Emergency and Disruption Management: Collaborating closely with the Airport Manager, Flight Operations, and Maintenance Control Center (MCC) to address Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations, emergencies, technical delays, service disruptions, and recovery operations with efficiency and urgency.
- Incident Reporting and Compliance: Ensuring all incidents and accidents are documented and reported to the Airport Manager and Head Office using standardized formats and approved communication channels. This includes immediate reporting of Dangerous Goods-related incidents to local authorities and headquarters, in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Agent Supervision and Guidance: Issuing clear operational instructions to handling agent staff, providing guidance in complex scenarios, and supporting them in delivering exceptional passenger service. The role also involves ensuring that all advisories and circulars from Ground Operations are effectively communicated to relevant personnel.
- Policy Adherence and Performance Monitoring: Enforcing compliance with Air Arabia’s policies, procedures, and regulatory standards among handling agents. This includes monitoring their performance, payments, meetings, and communication channels, and recommending enhancements to optimize financial outcomes and uphold the company’s corporate image.
- Data Analysis and Continuous Improvement: Utilizing delay and performance reports to monitor customer service levels, identify trends, and address recurring issues. This analytical approach aims to enhance operational efficiency and service quality across the station.
- Baggage Handling and Customer Service: Overseeing the baggage handling system, tracing lost luggage, conducting investigations into customer complaints, and compiling detailed reports for submission to the Airport Manager. Additionally, the role involves monitoring revenue-generating services such as excess baggage fees, go-show bookings, wheelchair assistance, and seat sales to support the airport team in achieving targets.
- Audit and Quality Assurance Support: Assisting the Quality Assurance, Safety, and Security Departments in conducting audit checks to ensure adherence to established standards and timely resolution of findings.
- Reporting and Representation: Preparing and submitting essential reports, including Flight Handling Reports, Disruption Reports, Incidents/Accidents Reports, and Customer Complaints Reports, to the Airport Manager and Head Office. The Airport Supervisor also deputizes the Airport Manager in their absence, ensuring continuity of operations.
Qualifications and Competencies
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following academic, professional, and linguistic requirements:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Management, Administration, or an equivalent field from a recognized university. Alternatively, a diploma in a related discipline combined with relevant work experience will be considered.
- Certifications and Training: Completion of essential training programs in Airport Safety and Security Procedures, IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, Passenger Handling, and Ground Operations Procedures is mandatory. Certifications in Cost Control, Compliance, and Quality Assurance are highly advantageous.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Passenger Handling Systems and Departure Control Systems (DCS), along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet-based tools for data analysis and reporting.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, including report writing and professional correspondence. Fluency in English is required, with proficiency in Arabic being advantageous for certain regions.
