Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Services Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal in-service maintenance of our customer’s A330MRTT fleet. In this critical position, you will provide expert engineering and technical support to our Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Depot activities, ensuring the airworthiness of the fleet in strict adherence to manufacturer standards and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining operational excellence, enhancing fleet reliability, and supporting our commitment to safety and compliance.

Core Responsibilities

The Senior Technical Services Engineer will be responsible for a wide range of technical and engineering duties, including:

  • Aircraft Systems & Avionics Expertise: Leveraging in-depth knowledge of aircraft systems, avionics, and powerplant systems to provide robust engineering and technical support during maintenance checks at both the airframe and component levels.
  • Compliance & Technical Documentation: Reviewing and ensuring compliance with customer-specified work packages, including Airworthiness Directives (AD), Service Bulletins (SB), Vendor Service Bulletins (VSB), Maintenance Planning Documents (MPD), and other technical publications. Preparing Engineering Orders (EO) and Job Instruction documents as required to facilitate seamless maintenance execution.
  • Technical Support & Coordination: Providing specialized technical support to various departments, including procurement for spare parts, modification kits, materials, and tools. Acting as a liaison to ensure all necessary resources are available for maintenance activities.
  • OEM Portal Navigation & Technical Publications: Demonstrating proficiency in accessing and interpreting data from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) portals, such as AirbusWorld, to obtain critical technical publication data essential for maintenance checks.
  • Technical Query Resolution: Addressing complex technical queries arising from routine or non-routine maintenance tasks that require further engineering or OEM support. Ensuring timely and accurate resolution to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Issue Reporting & Documentation: Reporting damage mapping and in-service issues to OEMs through formal channels such as Tech Request Dossiers or Service Requests. Collaborating with OEMs to obtain approved maintenance data and documentation for resolution.
  • Scope of Work Definition: Defining the scope of work for subcontracted maintenance or inspection activities by preparing comprehensive Statements of Work (SOW) for working parties or service providers.
  • Tooling & GSE Management: Identifying and defining the required tooling and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) for maintenance checks. Proposing and implementing alternate tooling solutions within the framework of EASA regulations to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Capability Development: Leading the development of in-house shop repair and inspection capabilities, including preparing documentation and obtaining necessary approvals to expand our technical competencies.
  • Retrofits & Modifications: Ensuring the timely execution of mandatory and non-mandatory retrofits and modifications on aircraft and components. Reporting the embodiment of these modifications to customers or OEMs as required.
  • Collaboration & Reporting: Working closely with the planning department to establish control documents for deferrals, inspection requirements, aircraft damage charts, and structural inspection needs. Representing the technical department in inter-departmental meetings, providing updates on the DeMAT management system, and escalating critical issues as necessary.

Key Competencies, Skills & Knowledge

To excel in this role, the ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications, skills, and competencies:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Type Training & Certifications: Completed Level 1 training on A320, A330, A340, A330MRTT, and GE CF6-80E1 aircraft systems.
  • Technical Proficiency: Fluency in English, both technical and aeronautical, with the ability to read and interpret Maintenance Manuals (aircraft, engine, and component), OEM portals, and technical publications such as ADs, SBs, VSBs, SILs, ISIs, and TFUs. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Organizational & Analytical Skills: Highly organized, punctual, and structured in managing tasks and priorities. Demonstrated analytical problem-solving capabilities with an objectives-oriented mindset.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of EASA Part 145 and Part M (Part-CAMO / Part-CAO) regulations, as well as FAA and GACA standards. Previous training in Critical Design Configuration Control Limitations (CDCCL), Fuel Tank Safety, Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition (CAME), Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS), Human Factors, and Safety Management System (SMS) is highly desirable.
  • Experience & Performance Metrics: Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in aviation, with at least two (2) years dedicated to engineering and maintenance roles for OEMs or Airbus A320/A330/A340 family aircraft, preferably on the Airbus Military platform (A330MRTT / A400M).
  • Soft Skills: Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills in daily operations. A commitment to the highest standards of quality, reliability, and safety. Demonstrated autonomy, proactivity, and initiative within the Quality Management System (QMS) scope. Ability to drive solutions or present clear escalation paths while working independently with line managers and department heads. Exceptional communication skills, fostering collaboration and trust across multicultural teams and stakeholders.
