Group Medical Manager – Leading Medical Excellence in Jeddah

Key Responsibilities
As the Group Medical Manager, your core responsibilities will encompass a broad spectrum of medical and strategic functions, including:
- Medical Strategy & Leadership: Develop and implement medical strategies aligned with GSK’s global objectives, ensuring they are tailored to the needs of the Saudi market. Lead medical initiatives that drive evidence-based decision-making and support the commercial success of GSK’s products.
- Scientific & Clinical Expertise: Provide authoritative medical and scientific guidance to internal teams, healthcare professionals, and external stakeholders. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in medical research, therapeutic areas, and regulatory guidelines to ensure GSK’s portfolio remains at the forefront of innovation.
- Regulatory & Compliance: Collaborate with regulatory affairs and legal teams to ensure all medical communications, publications, and promotional materials comply with local and international regulations. Oversee the development of medical dossiers and support submissions to health authorities.
- Medical Affairs & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a trusted medical advisor to key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare providers, and patient advocacy groups. Foster strong relationships with medical societies, academic institutions, and regulatory bodies to enhance GSK’s reputation as a leader in medical excellence.
- Data Analysis & Insights: Lead the analysis of clinical data, real-world evidence, and market intelligence to generate actionable insights. Utilize these insights to inform medical strategies, support product launches, and optimize lifecycle management of GSK’s portfolio.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with commercial, marketing, and R&D teams to align medical strategies with business objectives. Serve as a bridge between scientific rigor and commercial execution, ensuring that medical insights are effectively integrated into GSK’s go-to-market plans.
- Training & Development: Mentor and develop medical affairs professionals within the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. Lead training initiatives to enhance the medical knowledge and capabilities of internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
To excel in this role, you will bring a blend of medical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Educational Background: A medical degree (MD, MBBS, or equivalent) with a postgraduate qualification in a relevant therapeutic area, such as internal medicine, pharmacology, or public health. A Master’s or PhD in a related field is highly desirable.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in medical affairs, clinical research, or a related field, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role. Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, particularly within the Middle East region, is preferred.
- Medical & Scientific Knowledge: Deep understanding of clinical development, regulatory processes, and medical strategy within the pharmaceutical industry. Familiarity with therapeutic areas such as respiratory, vaccines, oncology, or immunology is advantageous.
- Leadership & Communication: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and communicate complex medical concepts to diverse audiences. Strong presentation and negotiation skills are essential.
- Regulatory & Compliance Acumen: Knowledge of local and international regulatory frameworks, including guidelines from the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) and other relevant authorities.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in Arabic is a strong asset.
