Key Responsibilities

The Barista plays a pivotal role in delivering a refined beverage experience, blending technical skill with genuine hospitality. Your responsibilities will include:

• Beverage Excellence: Prepare and serve specialty coffees, teas, and other beverages in strict adherence to Rosewood, Forbes, and LQA standards. Utilize advanced brewing techniques, espresso machine operation, and precise portion control to ensure consistency in taste, temperature, and presentation. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of coffee origins, roasting profiles, brewing methods, and flavor profiles to guide guests toward their ideal beverage.
• Guest Engagement & Service: Deliver warm, attentive, and personalized service to every guest, anticipating their needs and preferences. Engage in meaningful conversations to understand dietary restrictions, allergies, or special requests, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. Recommend beverage pairings, seasonal specials, or bespoke creations to enhance guest satisfaction and drive revenue.
• Operational Excellence: Maintain a meticulously organized and hygienic beverage station, adhering to strict cleanliness and presentation standards. Perform daily mise en place tasks to ensure readiness for service, including stock rotation (FIFO), equipment calibration, and inventory management. Monitor ingredient freshness, report maintenance needs, and troubleshoot equipment issues promptly to uphold operational efficiency.
• Innovation & Collaboration: Contribute to the café’s success by proposing creative beverage ideas, seasonal promotions, or product enhancements that align with guest preferences and market trends. Collaborate with the management team to implement new initiatives, training programs, or VIP amenities that elevate the guest experience. Support cross-departmental communication to ensure seamless service delivery and operational synergy.
• Financial Stewardship: Monitor daily beverage sales, average check, and outlet performance to support revenue and profitability targets. Upsell premium beverages, pastries, and retail products with confidence and tact. Maintain accurate order taking, billing, and inventory records, minimizing waste through proper portion control and stock management.
• Leadership & Professionalism: Uphold the highest standards of grooming, appearance, and conduct, reflecting the elegance and professionalism of the Rosewood brand. Actively participate in daily briefings, training sessions, and team meetings to refine your skills and share knowledge with colleagues. Mentor new baristas, foster a positive work environment, and lead by example through your dedication to craftsmanship and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, you should possess the following:

• Proven experience as a Barista in a luxury or high-volume café environment, with a deep passion for coffee and beverage craftsmanship.
• Expertise in espresso machine operation, brewing methods (e.g., pour-over, French press, cold brew), and milk steaming techniques.
• Strong knowledge of coffee beans, origins, roasting levels, and flavor profiles, with the ability to educate guests and colleagues.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage guests in a warm, professional, and informative manner.
• Commitment to cleanliness, organization, and operational efficiency, with a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining composure and delivering consistent service.
• Familiarity with POS systems, inventory management, and cost control principles is a plus.
