Key Responsibilities

The Controller-Cost will play a central role in shaping the financial landscape of our property by executing the following core responsibilities:

• Strategic Financial Planning and Analysis:
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data and market trends to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and oversee annual budget plans, ensuring alignment with property-wide goals and brand initiatives.
  • Monitor actual sales against projections, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions to enhance profitability.
  • Evaluate cost-benefit analyses to explore new business opportunities and drive continuous improvement.
  • Analyze wage discrepancies between actual and forecasted budgets to refine financial planning processes.
• Leadership and Team Development:
  • Provide visionary leadership to the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, and high performance.
  • Communicate financial goals and priorities clearly to team members and department managers, ensuring alignment with property objectives.
  • Empower staff through delegation, assigning clear responsibilities and authority to drive successful outcomes.
  • Champion ethical financial practices and sound business decision-making across all levels of the organization.
• Financial Reporting and Compliance:
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, including Profit and Loss (P&L) reports, to meet internal and external stakeholder needs.
  • Oversee tax compliance, ensuring all applicable taxes are current, accurately collected, and properly accrued.
  • Monitor and address audit findings, implementing necessary corrections to maintain compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Local Standard Operating Procedures (LSOPs) to uphold operational integrity.
  • Validate the accuracy of financial records, ensuring costs are appropriately matched to revenue and recorded in the correct accounts.
• Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the General Manager and executive committee, providing financial insights to support strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including property owners, corporate leadership, and guests, to understand their financial expectations and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Represent the property in owner meetings, presenting financial results with clarity and persuasiveness to align with ownership priorities.
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings to review financial performance, address challenges, and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Translate complex financial concepts into accessible language to influence decision-making at all levels.
• Risk Management and Process Optimization:
  • Implement robust internal controls to mitigate business risks and safeguard the property’s financial health.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance within the finance and accounting functions.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and regulatory changes to ensure the property remains at the forefront of financial management.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• No prior work experience is required; however, a strong academic foundation and a passion for financial management are essential.
• Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting tools.
