The Opportunity
As a Procurement Business Partner at Roche, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between global procurement strategies and local business needs. This position is designed for strategic thinkers who can act as enablers, advisors, and advocates for both the procurement organization and the business stakeholders they serve. You will ensure that procurement operates as a cohesive network, aligning external market opportunities with internal delivery capabilities to meet and exceed high-quality service expectations. Your role will be instrumental in driving efficiency, innovation, and value across the organization.
Your Responsibilities
- Strategic Advocacy: Serve as the primary liaison between procurement and business stakeholders, acting as the "voice of Procurement" to the business and the "voice of the business" to procurement. Represent procurement’s interests in local markets while supporting local delivery teams to achieve their objectives.
- Global and Local Collaboration: Contribute to the development of global procurement strategies by providing localized insights to global category and supplier management teams. Ensure that regional and local procurement activities align with broader organizational goals.
- Customer-Centric Procurement: Act as a procurement ambassador and customer partner, simplifying and optimizing the customer experience. Identify procurement opportunities, promote solutions, and advocate for customer compliance with policies, tools, and processes. Drive adoption of procurement systems and improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Target Setting and Analytics: Support the procurement organization in setting annual targets and aligning them with business objectives. Leverage data insights and analytics to provide guardrails for decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Process and Technology Implementation: Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives to deliver additional value. Collaborate with global and regional teams to implement category initiatives at the local level, including the application of buying guides and content.
- Supplier Management and Innovation: Develop and implement innovation programs with key suppliers. Identify and manage regional strategic supplier risks while fostering long-term partnerships that drive mutual growth and sustainability.
- Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): Support and champion CSR initiatives related to suppliers, such as supplier diversity, anti-bribery measures, and animal welfare standards. Ensure that procurement activities align with Roche’s commitment to ethical and sustainable business practices.
Who You Are
- Education and Experience: Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, with a preference for candidates with experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Core Competencies: Demonstrate a deep understanding of local business activities, procurement spend management approaches, and strong analytical, planning, and prioritization skills. Exhibit excellent leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and influencing abilities to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders.
- Category Management Expertise: Proven experience in category management with a comprehensive understanding of major spend categories and cost optimization levers.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in procurement systems such as Ariba, Emptoris, and SAP, as well as familiarity with contract documentation tools, eSourcing, and eAuction platforms. Understand legal risks and issues associated with procurement activities.
- Collaborative Mindset: Act as an enterprise thinker, leveraging your knowledge and expertise to create tailored solutions for business customers. Proactively foster collaboration across the procurement network to drive innovation and efficiency.
- Language Skills: Fluency in both English and Arabic, both written and spoken, is essential for effective communication in diverse markets.
