Key Responsibilities

The Dental Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of clinical and administrative duties, including:

• Clinical Support:
  • Provide hands-on assistance to the dentist during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures, ensuring optimal patient care and procedural efficiency.
  • Prepare and organize treatment rooms with precision, verifying that all instruments, materials, and equipment are sterilized, functional, and readily available prior to each procedure.
  • Perform thorough sterilization and disinfection of dental instruments and equipment in strict adherence to infection control protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare and handle dental materials, including assisting with the creation of dental impressions when necessary.
  • Support the dentist in capturing and processing dental X-rays, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining high-quality diagnostic standards.
• Patient Care & Experience:
  • Greet and prepare patients with professionalism and empathy, ensuring their comfort and readiness for dental treatment.
  • Provide clear and concise explanations of treatment procedures, pre- and post-operative instructions, and aftercare guidance to enhance patient understanding and compliance.
  • Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures and offer reassurance and support as needed to alleviate anxiety.
  • Maintain meticulous patient records and treatment documentation, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in all interactions.
• Inventory & Equipment Management:
  • Monitor dental supply levels and place orders as necessary to prevent shortages and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Ensure all dental equipment is clean, properly maintained, and in optimal working condition, reporting any malfunctions or issues to the clinic manager promptly.
  • Assist in the organization and management of clinical inventory to support seamless workflows and patient care.
• Infection Control & Safety Compliance:
  • Adhere rigorously to infection prevention and control policies, including sterilization, disinfection, and waste management procedures.
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards to protect patients, staff, and the practice environment.
  • Dispose of medical waste in accordance with local and federal guidelines to maintain a safe and compliant clinical setting.
• Administrative Support:
  • Assist with updating and maintaining patient records in the clinic management system, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with reception staff to coordinate patient flow, treatment schedules, and appointment management, fostering a streamlined operational environment.

Qualifications & Competencies

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Education & Licensure: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Assisting or a related healthcare field. Valid professional license or classification, where mandated by local regulations, is required.
• Experience: Minimum of one year of hands-on experience in a dental clinic environment, with a preference for candidates who have worked in general dentistry, orthodontics, or specialty practices.
• Technical & Clinical Skills:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of dental instruments, procedures, and infection control standards.
  • Proficiency in operating dental equipment and software, including digital X-ray systems and clinic management platforms.
• Soft Skills & Attributes:
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities to interact effectively with patients, dentists, and administrative staff.
  • Strong attention to detail and the capacity to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced clinical environment.
