Position Overview

The Back End Maintainer plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless operation of the Necker system and associated equipment within our manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for maintaining optimal performance, minimizing operational disruptions, and upholding stringent quality standards throughout the production process. The Back End Maintainer will conduct routine inspections, perform preventative maintenance, and address mechanical or operational issues to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

• System and Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the Necker system and related machinery operate efficiently by conducting regular examinations, testing, and measurements to verify compliance with quality specifications. Utilize appropriate gauges and instruments to assess product quality and document findings accurately.
• Camera System Oversight: Monitor camera operations, analyze camera rejects, and report findings to the area team leader to facilitate corrective actions and maintain production integrity.
• Equipment Setup and Adjustment: Perform setup, adjustments, repairs, and maintenance of the Necker and IBO systems. Conduct changeovers or conversions to accommodate variations in material, size, or product specifications as required.
• Preventative Maintenance: Conduct thorough preventative maintenance inspections of assigned equipment, identify potential issues, and take proactive measures to prevent operational failures. Report findings and recommend corrective actions to enhance equipment reliability.
• Quality Assurance: Examine, test, and measure products at various stages of the manufacturing process to ensure adherence to quality standards. Utilize appropriate tools and instruments to verify specifications and record data for quality tracking and reporting.
• Safety and Compliance: Strictly adhere to all safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions, including Lockout/Tagout, chemical handling, machine guarding, housekeeping, SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements. Prioritize a safe working environment to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Process Optimization: Collaborate with the production team to maximize operational efficiency, minimize spoilage, and reduce downtime during manufacturing processes. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and maintain high-quality output.
• 5S System Implementation: Apply and uphold the 5S methodology—Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain—to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace that supports operational excellence.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following professional and educational requirements:

• Education: A three-year mechanical diploma or equivalent technical qualification.
• Experience: Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in a similar maintenance or technical role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and mechanical equipment with a strong emphasis on hands-on technical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with computer systems for data recording, reporting, and equipment monitoring.
  • Strong written communication skills to prepare detailed reports, log findings, and document maintenance activities.
• Knowledge Base:
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems, machinery operations, and preventative maintenance principles.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory compliance within an industrial setting.
