General Practitioner - Home Care

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner to join our Home Care team at NMC Hospitals and Clinics. In this critical role, you will deliver exceptional primary healthcare services to patients in the comfort of their homes, ensuring the highest standards of medical excellence, ethical practice, and patient-centered care. Your responsibilities will encompass comprehensive patient assessments, evidence-based treatment planning, and seamless coordination with multidisciplinary teams to optimize health outcomes. This position requires a commitment to continuous professional development, adherence to regulatory standards, and a deep sense of responsibility toward patient education and empowerment.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care and Assessment: Conduct thorough history-taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations to formulate accurate management plans. Ensure all actions reflect a commitment to superior medical treatment, compassion, and understanding for every patient.
• Inpatient and Outpatient Coordination: Perform daily ward rounds for inpatients, liaise with consultants regarding patient care, and admit patients from referral facilities such as the Emergency Room (ER) and Outpatient Department (OPD). Collaborate with senior staff to develop and execute diagnostic and treatment plans.
• Diagnostic and Procedural Expertise: Execute essential diagnostic procedures, including bone marrow aspirations, lumbar punctures, and cavity aspirations, following consultation with senior medical staff. Ensure all procedures are documented meticulously in patient records.
• On-Call and Emergency Response: Actively participate in the department’s on-call rotation, providing timely and effective medical care during emergency and after-hours situations. Present daily admissions in morning reports and contribute to the department’s educational initiatives.
• Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and their families on health promotion, disease prevention, and treatment adherence. Tailor educational approaches to meet individual needs, considering developmental level, cultural background, and learning preferences. Document all educational interactions in patient records.
• Continuous Professional Development: Engage in Continuing Medical Education (CME) through medical meetings, grand rounds, journal clubs, and morbidity and mortality reviews. Stay abreast of advancements in evidence-based medicine and internal medicine subspecialties.
• Administrative and Team Collaboration: Fulfill administrative duties as assigned by the Head of the Department, including preparing discharge summaries, problem lists, and special reports. Collaborate with all healthcare professionals, supporting services, and families to ensure cohesive and patient-centered care.
• Compliance and Quality Assurance: Adhere to the Policies and Procedures of the Department of Internal Medicine, as well as the By-Laws and Regulations of Riyadh Care Hospital. Ensure compliance with CBAHI/JCIA standards, Ministry of Health regulations, and hospital medical by-laws.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess a valid medical license from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with a specialization in General Practice or Internal Medicine. Proficiency in English is essential, and Arabic language skills are advantageous. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

Reporting and Collaboration

This position reports directly to the Senior Registrar, Consultant Internist, or Subspecialty Consultant, as well as the Head of the Department. You will liaise closely with physicians, nursing staff, allied health professionals, and administrative teams to ensure seamless care delivery. While this role does not involve supervisory responsibilities, your contributions will be pivotal in maintaining the high standards of our Home Care services.
