This position is not limited to annual or ad hoc advisory; it requires an ongoing, hands-on approach to tax management and strategic guidance.
Key Responsibilities
The Tax Consultant will be responsible for the following core functions:
VAT Compliance and Advisory

- Support the preparation, review, and timely filing of VAT returns in accordance with statutory deadlines.
- Provide expert guidance on VAT implications for both local and cross-border transactions, ensuring accurate application of tax rules.
- Analyze and advise on VAT clauses in customer and vendor contracts to mitigate risks and ensure proper tax treatment.
- Assist Finance in responding to tax authority inquiries, assessments, audits, and requests for clarification with precision and professionalism.
- Identify potential VAT risks, incorrect tax treatments, or recoverability issues, and recommend corrective actions to safeguard the company’s financial interests.
Withholding Tax (WHT) Management
- Evaluate payments to non-resident vendors to determine the correct WHT treatment, including treaty eligibility and applicable rates.
- Advise on WHT filing requirements, supporting documentation, and payment timelines to ensure full compliance with regulatory obligations.
- Support the monthly preparation, review, filing, and payment of WHT returns to avoid penalties and interest charges.
- Review vendor contracts prior to signing to identify WHT exposure and potential tax gross-up risks, ensuring financial protection for the company.
- Maintain a comprehensive WHT tracker to monitor taxable payments, filings, certificates, and outstanding exposures for proactive risk management.
- Collaborate with Finance and Supply Chain teams to resolve vendor tax inquiries and ensure all tax-related matters are escalated through the appropriate channels.
Income Tax Support
- Assist in annual income tax compliance activities, including data preparation, reconciliations, schedule compilations, and review of tax computations.
- Review tax provisions and tax-related financial statement disclosures to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Coordinate seamlessly with external auditors, tax advisors, shareholder tax teams, and internal stakeholders to facilitate smooth audit processes and tax reporting.
- Support responses to tax assessments, inquiries, objections, and appeals with strategic and well-documented approaches.
- Proactively identify potential income tax exposures and recommend appropriate treatment, documentation, or mitigation strategies to minimize financial risks.
Transfer Pricing Compliance
- Support annual transfer pricing compliance by preparing and reviewing disclosure forms, local files, master files, and documentation for related party transactions.
- Evaluate intercompany agreements, service charges, management fees, cost allocations, and shareholder-related transactions to ensure alignment with arm’s length principles.
- Assess the adequacy of supporting documentation for related party transactions and recommend enhancements where necessary.
- Coordinate with parent company tax teams and external advisors to maintain consistency and compliance in transfer pricing strategies.
- Maintain organized records of related party balances, charges, and tax positions to support regulatory requirements and internal audits.
Sales and Customer Contract Tax Support
- Provide strategic tax guidance to Sales and Commercial teams on the implications of customer contracts, proposals, pricing structures, and billing models.
- Advise on VAT treatment, invoicing requirements, tax clauses, and cross-border customer arrangements to ensure compliance and optimize tax outcomes.
- Deliver clear and actionable insights on tax matters that may impact customer pricing, billing processes, collections, or contract execution.
- Review tax-related contract language to ensure the company’s position is legally protected and aligned with tax regulations.
- Support Finance in ensuring that tax-sensitive commercial decisions are thoroughly reviewed before final commitments are made to customers.
Supply Chain and Vendor Tax Support
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Procurement teams to review vendor contracts, purchase orders, and cross-border service arrangements for tax compliance.
- Advise on WHT, VAT, tax gross-up clauses, treaty documentation, and vendor tax obligations to mitigate financial risks in vendor relationships.
- Ensure tax implications are identified and addressed prior to the conclusion of vendor negotiations to prevent costly oversights.
- Provide practical, solution-oriented guidance to Supply Chain teams on tax matters that influence vendor pricing, payment processing, and contractual terms.
