General Accountant

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive General Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in maintaining the financial integrity of our organization by ensuring accurate record-keeping, preparing compliant financial statements, and supporting critical audit processes. Key Responsibilities

• Financial Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous financial records and ledgers, accurately recording day-to-day transactions such as accounts payable and receivable to ensure the integrity of our financial data.
• Financial Statement Preparation: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring full compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
• Reconciliations and Compliance: Perform comprehensive balance sheet and bank reconciliations, promptly identifying and resolving discrepancies to maintain financial accuracy. Stay abreast of evolving financial legislation and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Audit Support: Prepare and organize financial documentation for internal and external audits, facilitating smooth audit processes and providing clear, accurate responses to auditor inquiries.
• Budget Monitoring and Reporting: Assist in the preparation and monitoring of organizational budgets, tracking expenditures, and generating variance reports to support informed decision-making by management.
• Accounting Software and Systems: Utilize advanced accounting software such as SAP or QuickBooks to process transactions, generate reports, and support the implementation of new financial systems to enhance operational efficiency.
• Internal Controls and Process Improvement: Assist in maintaining and enforcing robust internal controls, identifying opportunities for process optimization, and recommending enhancements to strengthen financial governance.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to gather financial data, resolve discrepancies, and support ad-hoc projects, fostering a collaborative environment that drives organizational success.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you should possess the following educational background, professional experience, and technical competencies:

• Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Professional Experience: A minimum of 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably within a corporate setting, is essential to understand the complexities of financial operations.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of accounting software platforms such as QuickBooks or SAP, along with advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, including the ability to utilize complex formulas and perform detailed data analysis.
• Certifications: While not mandatory, certifications such as ZAT or IFRS are highly valued and demonstrate a commitment to professional excellence in accounting standards.
