Role Overview
The Mechanical Engineer within the Elevator division will play a pivotal role in overseeing project execution, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives while maintaining the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. This position requires a dynamic professional capable of managing complex project plans, coordinating cross-functional teams, and serving as the primary liaison between technical and operational stakeholders. The role demands a proactive approach to project delivery, with a strong emphasis on risk mitigation, resource optimization, and continuous performance improvement. By leveraging defined project management methodologies and tools, the Mechanical Engineer will drive successful project outcomes, fostering collaboration and innovation throughout the supply chain and project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the following core functions:
- Project Management:
- Develop, manage, and execute internal project plans in accordance with Al-Futtaim’s project management methodologies.
- Coordinate with all key stakeholders—including clients, vendors, and internal teams—throughout the entire project lifecycle to ensure seamless execution.
- Serve as the single point of contact for supply line coordination during the project execution phase, overseeing equipment and component orders.
- Manage project design, quality planning, sourcing, and logistics to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Address supply project variations and scope changes, implementing approved modifications to meet project requirements.
- Facilitate effective communication by distributing technical information to frontline teams and stakeholders.
- Lead and mentor project teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in project steering group meetings, providing strategic input on project management aspects.
- Oversee vendor-related aspects of custom equipment projects, ensuring compliance with technical and commercial specifications.
- Resource and Financial Management:
- Conduct resource planning for supply projects and lead multifunctional teams to achieve project goals.
- Manage project reporting, audits, internal handovers, and final project closure processes.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to share responsibility for cost control and financial accountability within the supply line.
- Develop and implement resource, financial, and quality plans to optimize project outcomes and minimize risks.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and proactively engage functional leaders to incorporate best practices in project planning.
- Promote team cohesion through trust, respect, and cooperation, enhancing overall team performance.
- Collect and disseminate essential technical documentation to frontline teams to support project execution.
- Provide coaching and guidance to project coordinators and specialists on project management best practices.
Qualifications and Competencies
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in project management, preferably within the elevator or construction industry.
- Proven track record of delivering projects within scope, schedule, and budget while achieving profitability targets.
- Demonstrated success in improving project cost efficiency and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
- Technical and Soft Skills:
- Strong project management competencies, including proficiency in project planning, execution, and monitoring tools.
- Exceptional customer relationship management skills, with the ability to build and maintain long-term partnerships. Capacity to thrive in high-pressure environments while maintaining focus on efficiency and teamwork.
