Optometry Specialist

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Optometry Specialist to join our esteemed healthcare team. In this pivotal role, you will deliver comprehensive optometric care, including advanced examinations, diagnostic testing, and specialized contact lens fittings for patients with a wide range of visual conditions. Your expertise will be instrumental in enhancing patient outcomes, particularly for individuals with complex refractive errors, post-surgical cases, and low vision needs. Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Assessments and Diagnostics: Conduct thorough optometry examinations, including refraction testing and the fitting of soft and hard contact lenses for patients with myopia, hyperopia, aphakia, astigmatism, and post-surgical conditions such as trauma, cataract, and penetrating keratoplasty (PKP). Address aberrations like keratoconus, scarring, trauma, and droplet keratopathy with precision and care.
• Contact Lens Management: Oversee the procurement, inventory, and maintenance of contact lens supplies, including lenses, equipment, and solutions. Ensure optimal availability and functionality of resources to support seamless patient care.
• Regulatory Compliance and Leadership: Enforce compliance among subordinate staff with all hospital and departmental regulations, policies, and procedures. Uphold the highest standards of professional conduct and patient safety.
• Low Vision Evaluations: Perform specialized low vision assessments to determine the most effective interventions for patients with significant visual impairments, enhancing their quality of life through tailored solutions.
• Pediatric and Specialized Care: Provide direct supervision and hands-on involvement in the fitting and management of pediatric aphakic and rigid contact lenses, ensuring age-appropriate and effective care strategies.
• Training and Mentorship: Actively participate in the training and professional development of subordinate staff and residents. Offer constructive feedback and guidance to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Performance Evaluation: Contribute to the assessment of clinical performance for contact lens technicians and assistants, providing insights and recommendations to enhance team capabilities and patient care standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Optometry or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• A valid license to practice as an Optometry Specialist issued by the Saudi Ministry of Health (MOH).
