Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Consultant Pediatric Pulmonology to join our esteemed healthcare team. In this pivotal role, you will deliver exceptional medical care to pediatric patients, ensuring adherence to evidence-based medicine, professional ethics, and international standards such as JCIA. Your responsibilities will encompass both outpatient and inpatient services, including consultations, admissions, and specialized procedures such as bronchoscopies, pleural biopsies, and pulmonary function tests. Additionally, you will provide leadership in respiratory therapy services and contribute to the continuous improvement of clinical and operational processes within the department.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care and Clinical Excellence: Deliver superior quality medical treatment, compassion, and understanding to every patient, adhering to the highest standards of professional competence and ethical practice. Ensure patient care aligns with clinically relevant and scientifically valid standards, guidelines, and criteria.
• Clinical Procedures and Consultations: Perform routine and advanced procedures, including bronchoscopies, pleural biopsies, and pulmonary function tests. Conduct inpatient and outpatient consultations, formulate multidisciplinary treatment plans, and supervise respiratory therapy services to optimize patient outcomes.
• Leadership and Supervision: Provide effective leadership in the Department of Pediatric Pulmonology, overseeing the performance of junior staff and ensuring compliance with hospital by-laws, Ministry of Health regulations, and departmental quality plans. Actively participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance clinical and non-clinical processes.
• Emergency Response and On-Call Duties: Participate in the department’s on-call rota, responding to emergencies and providing expert advice and intervention as required. Uphold patient rights, including security, confidentiality, and privacy, while maintaining accurate and timely medical records.
• Continuing Professional Development: Engage in Continuous Medical Education (CME) through hospital activities such as morning report meetings, grand rounds, clinical tutorials, and seminars. Contribute to national and international conferences, review literature, and participate in case reporting and clinical research to advance the field of pediatric pulmonology.
• Training and Education: Contribute to training programs within the department, ensuring the continuous upgrading of skills and knowledge. Actively participate in committee meetings, including Quality Improvement and Infection Control, to drive excellence in patient care and operational efficiency.
• Collaboration and Compliance: Work closely with consultants in pediatric pulmonology and other specialties to ensure seamless patient care. Adhere to departmental policies, hospital by-laws, and regulatory requirements while supporting the hospital’s mission and strategic goals.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must possess a valid medical license, board certification in Pediatric Pulmonology, and a minimum of five years of post-residency experience in the field. Proficiency in performing bronchoscopies, pleural biopsies, and pulmonary function tests is essential. Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills are required, along with a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth. Fluency in English is mandatory, and Arabic language proficiency is a plus.

Reporting and Collaboration

This position reports directly to the Head of the Department of Internal Medicine and collaborates with consultants across various specialties to ensure comprehensive patient care. The Consultant Pediatric Pulmonology will play a critical role in advancing the hospital’s reputation for clinical excellence and innovation in pediatric healthcare.
