Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sonography Technician - Technologist - Senior to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this pivotal role, you will perform advanced ultrasound examinations, assist radiologists in specialized and interventional procedures, and ensure the delivery of high-quality diagnostic imaging services. Key Responsibilities

The Senior Sonography Technologist will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:

• Conducting Ultrasound Examinations: Perform comprehensive ultrasound scans, including abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, and breast ultrasonography, ensuring accurate and detailed imaging for diagnostic purposes.
• Image Submission and Consultation: Submit captured images to radiologists for review, discussion, and reporting. Consult with radiologists during complex cases to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Patient Identification and Preparation: Verify patient identity and examination site to maintain safety and accuracy. Explain procedures to patients, providing clear instructions on positioning and expectations to facilitate smooth examinations.
• Equipment and Technique Proficiency: Select appropriate transducers and adjust equipment settings based on the organ or area being examined. Maintain meticulous records of patient information and transfer images to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
• Documentation and Compliance: Record patient details in logbooks and ensure ultrasound rooms are maintained in a clean, organized, and sterile environment. Adhere to all hospital policies, emergency protocols, and sterile techniques required for ultrasound-guided procedures.
• Assisting with Special Procedures: Support radiologists in performing interventional procedures such as biopsies, drainages, and other specialized ultrasound-guided interventions, ensuring adherence to safety and aseptic standards.
• Patient Education and Communication: Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment plans, and preventive measures, fostering a supportive and informative healthcare experience.
• Continuous Improvement and Safety: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, uphold safety protocols, and proactively address any job-related safety concerns. Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information and comply with cybersecurity policies to protect patient and organizational data.
• Professional Development: Complete mandatory education and training as required, ensuring compliance with regional health regulatory standards and maintaining active licensure (e.g., SCFHS, DHA).

Qualifications and Requirements

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Hold an appropriate radiographic or technological diploma or bachelor’s degree with specialized training in ultrasonography.
• Experience: Demonstrate at least two years of post-diploma experience in continuous ultrasonography practice, with a proven track record in performing a variety of ultrasound examinations.
• Licensure and Certifications: Possess a valid license to practice as a sonography technician or technologist, issued by the relevant regional health regulatory authority (e.g., SCFHS, DHA).
• Language Proficiency: Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in Arabic is considered an asset.
• Technical and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate the ability to clearly communicate with patients, families, physicians, and non-medical staff. Exhibit technical proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment and maintaining detailed records.
• Professional Conduct: Uphold the organization’s code of conduct, ethical standards, and policies, ensuring a high level of professionalism and integrity in all interactions.
