API Connect Developer - Remote

Position Overview

Valleysoft, a leading global provider of enterprise technology solutions, is seeking a skilled and motivated API Connect Developer to join our remote team. In this critical role, you will contribute to the design, development, and management of robust API solutions that enable seamless integration across diverse enterprise systems. As part of our Information Technology and Services division, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, secure, and scalable API platforms that drive business innovation and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

As an API Connect Developer, you will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-grade API solutions using IBM API Connect. Your expertise will be instrumental in connecting applications, data, and services across complex environments while ensuring compliance with security, governance, and performance standards. The following core responsibilities will define your role:

• API Development and Configuration: Design, develop, and configure RESTful APIs using IBM API Connect, ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements. Utilize OpenAPI and Swagger specifications to define API contracts and maintain consistency across implementations.
• API Lifecycle Management: Oversee the complete API lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment, versioning, and retirement. Ensure seamless transitions between environments (Development, UAT, and Production) while adhering to structured release and change-management processes.
• API Gateway Configuration: Implement and manage API Gateway policies to enforce authentication, authorization, security, rate limiting, throttling, routing, and traffic management. Leverage OAuth 2.0, JWT, TLS/SSL, and other security mechanisms to safeguard API endpoints and data integrity.
• Integration and Interoperability: Integrate APIs with backend applications, databases, middleware platforms, and external systems. Work with REST, SOAP, HTTP/HTTPS, JSON, and XML to facilitate seamless communication between legacy and modern systems.
• API Security and Governance: Collaborate with security and compliance teams to implement secure API design principles. Participate in API security reviews, adhere to enterprise development standards, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Developer Portal and API Publishing: Configure and maintain the API Developer Portal to enable self-service access for API consumers. Manage API products, plans, applications, subscriptions, and consumer access to streamline adoption and usage.
• Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor API performance, traffic patterns, errors, and availability to proactively identify and resolve issues. Conduct root-cause analysis for API-related incidents and implement corrective measures to enhance reliability and performance.
• Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with solution architects, application developers, QA, infrastructure, security, and DevOps teams to ensure cohesive delivery of API solutions. Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including API specifications, deployment guides, and support procedures.
• Production Support: Provide expert-level support for API deployments and production incidents. Resolve API-related issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted business operations.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you must possess a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and strong communication abilities. The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience: Minimum of 6-8 years of hands-on experience in API management, API development, and enterprise integration, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality API solutions in complex environments.
• Technical Proficiency:
  • Extensive experience with IBM API Connect, including API design, development, configuration, security policies, lifecycle management, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong expertise in designing and developing REST APIs, with deep knowledge of OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
  • Proficiency in configuring API Gateway policies for routing, authentication, authorization, rate limiting, throttling, and security enforcement.
  • Experience implementing API security using OAuth 2.0, JWT, TLS/SSL, and other industry-standard mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with integrating APIs with enterprise applications, databases, and middleware, and working with HTTP/HTTPS, SOAP, JSON, and XML.
• Process and Standards: Experience following established API design and security standards, participating in secure API design reviews, and adhering to enterprise development and governance frameworks.
• Communication Skills:
  • Fluent written and spoken English for technical documentation, API specifications, troubleshooting, and collaboration with global teams.
  • Fluent written and spoken Arabic for effective communication and coordination with local Saudi stakeholders and teams.
