About the Role
Al-Ahmadi Medical Complex (AMC) Group, a leading healthcare provider operating across multiple branches in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, is seeking a dynamic and strategic Procurement Manager to oversee and optimize our end-to-end sourcing and purchasing operations. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing robust procurement systems, cultivating a high-performing supplier network, and ensuring strict adherence to cost efficiency and regulatory compliance. Your leadership will directly contribute to the operational excellence and financial sustainability of our medical complexes, which span medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, laboratory reagents, consumables, facilities management, and general services.
Key Responsibilities
As the Procurement Manager, you will play a central role in shaping the procurement strategy for AMC Group. Your responsibilities will include:
- Strategic Procurement Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy that aligns with the operational and financial objectives of all AMC branches, covering medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, laboratory supplies, consumables, facilities, and general services.
- Supplier and Vendor Management: Establish and nurture strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate competitive and compliant contracts, and ensure the delivery of high-quality products and services while maintaining cost control.
- Policy and Process Development: Design and implement procurement policies, approval workflows, and inventory management systems to streamline operations, mitigate risks, and prevent stock shortages or overspending.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with clinical, pharmacy, laboratory, facilities, and finance teams to accurately forecast procurement needs, align purchasing activities with operational demands, and support seamless service delivery across all branches.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with Saudi Ministry of Health (MOH) and Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) procurement standards, including the use of registered products and suppliers, to uphold the highest levels of patient safety and regulatory adherence.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and, where necessary, restructure the procurement team to enhance performance, efficiency, and accountability. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth within the department.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Track and report key procurement KPIs, such as cost savings, lead times, and supplier performance, to senior leadership to inform strategic decision-making and drive operational excellence.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, you will bring the following qualifications and attributes:
- Proven Healthcare Procurement Experience: Minimum of four years in a Procurement Manager role within the healthcare, hospital, or medical sector. Candidates without direct healthcare procurement experience will not be considered.
- System and Process Development: Demonstrated ability to design and implement procurement systems and processes that go beyond routine purchasing activities, ensuring scalability and efficiency across multiple locations.
- Multi-Location Procurement: Hands-on experience managing procurement operations across multiple branches or sites, with a keen understanding of logistical and operational challenges.
- Procurement Expertise: In-depth knowledge of procurement structures, vendor management best practices, and contract negotiation strategies to secure favorable terms and mitigate risks.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Saudi MOH and SFDA regulatory and compliance requirements, ensuring all procurement activities meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
- Analytical and Negotiation Skills: Strong analytical abilities to evaluate procurement data, identify cost-saving opportunities, and negotiate favorable terms with suppliers. Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CIPS or CPSM are advantageous.
- Technical Advantage: A background in Biomedical Engineering with procurement experience is highly desirable, given the critical role of medical equipment and devices in our operations.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in both Arabic and English to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration across all levels of the organization.
