Klybeck Life Sciences MENA, a subsidiary of Klybeck Life Sciences—headquartered in Basel with over 35 years of expertise in biopharmaceutical and veterinary product development and manufacturing—is a leading innovator in high-quality vaccine production. The company specializes in the development of vaccines that meet international standards, leveraging Epi-linked isolated pathogenic strains to enhance immunity against global diseases and epidemics.

As the first veterinary vaccine manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia, located in Dammam, Klybeck Life Sciences MENA produces a diverse portfolio of vaccines for poultry, aquaculture, livestock, and companion animals. The facility employs cutting-edge, internationally recognized production technologies while adhering to stringent Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and relevant ISO standards, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. These commitments ensure exceptional product quality, robust biosecurity, workplace safety, and environmentally responsible operations.

Position Overview

Klybeck Life Sciences MENA is seeking a meticulous and technically proficient QC Microbiology Analyst to join its Quality Control team at the Dammam-based veterinary vaccine manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the microbiological integrity of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and environmental conditions through rigorous testing, monitoring, and documentation. This position requires strict adherence to GMP, GLP, and ISO standards, as well as a commitment to safety, biosecurity, and continuous improvement.

The QC Microbiology Analyst will conduct a wide range of microbiological analyses, including sterility testing, bioburden assessments, microbial limit testing, endotoxin detection, water analysis, and microbial identification. Additionally, the role involves environmental monitoring of production and controlled areas, preparation and management of culture media, and support for laboratory investigations and method validations. Collaboration with Quality Assurance, Production, and other departments is essential to maintain compliance and drive operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure full adherence to GMP, GLP, Good Documentation Practices, ISO standards, laboratory safety protocols, and biosecurity measures to maintain a controlled and secure working environment.
  • Sample Management: Perform representative sampling of raw materials, packaging components, in-process materials, finished products, culture media, and water-system samples. Properly receive, identify, label, log, handle, and store samples under specified conditions.
  • Microbiological Testing: Conduct comprehensive microbiological tests, including sterility testing, bioburden testing, microbial limit testing, bacterial endotoxin testing, water analysis, growth promotion testing, and microbial identification, following approved specifications and SOPs.
  • Environmental Monitoring: Perform routine environmental monitoring of production and controlled areas, including viable air sampling, settle plate monitoring, surface monitoring, personnel monitoring, and other required tests to assess microbiological contamination risks.
  • Laboratory Preparations: Prepare, sterilize, label, store, and control culture media, buffer solutions, diluents, reagents, test solutions, microbial suspensions, and other laboratory preparations to ensure accuracy and reliability of testing procedures.
  • Data Integrity and Documentation: Accurately document all sampling, preparation, testing, monitoring, and equipment activities in approved test formats, worksheets, logbooks, and laboratory systems. Maintain complete data integrity, traceability, and compliance with Good Documentation Practices throughout all laboratory activities.
  • Reporting and Investigations: Prepare detailed laboratory reports presenting test results, observations, calculations, and conclusions. Promptly report out-of-specification, out-of-trend, atypical, invalid, or unexpected results to the Section Supervisor and actively participate in related laboratory investigations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Quality Assurance, Production, and other departments to support method validation and verification activities, internal audits, continuous improvement initiatives, and adherence to regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biology, or a related field, with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in a GMP-compliant laboratory environment. Proficiency in microbiological testing techniques, environmental monitoring, and data analysis is essential. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment are critical. Familiarity with ISO standards, GLP, and Good Documentation Practices is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments are also required.
