Supervisor, Ladle and Refractory

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor, Ladle and Refractory to join our dynamic team at AL ITTEFAQ STEEL PRODUCTS CO. based in Dammam. In this critical role, you will oversee the operations related to ladle metallurgy and refractory maintenance, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and efficiency in our steel production processes. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of our refractory linings, extending equipment lifespan, and enhancing overall productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Refractory Management: Supervise the installation, maintenance, and repair of refractory linings in ladles and other critical equipment to ensure durability and thermal efficiency.
• Process Optimization: Monitor and optimize ladle metallurgy processes, including desulfurization, alloying, and temperature control, to meet stringent quality standards.
• Team Leadership: Lead a team of technicians and operators, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, including PPE usage, equipment inspections, and emergency response procedures, to mitigate workplace hazards.
• Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure that all ladle and refractory operations comply with industry regulations and company specifications.
• Inventory Management: Oversee the procurement, storage, and usage of refractory materials and spare parts to minimize waste and ensure timely availability.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve operational issues related to ladle and refractory systems, implementing corrective actions to prevent downtime and production delays.
• Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on process performance, refractory wear rates, and maintenance activities for management review and strategic planning.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• Education: A bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced certifications in refractory technology or ladle metallurgy are highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in ladle metallurgy or refractory management within the steel or metals industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of refractory materials, ladle furnace operations, and metallurgical processes. Familiarity with CAD software, process control systems, and predictive maintenance tools is a plus.
• Leadership Abilities: Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams, managing projects, and driving operational excellence in a high-paced industrial environment.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes of issues and implement effective solutions under pressure.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with stakeholders, report progress, and ensure alignment across departments.
• Safety Mindset: A commitment to fostering a safety-first culture, with a deep understanding of OSHA, ISO, and other relevant safety standards.

Work Environment

The Supervisor, Ladle and Refractory will operate in a challenging yet rewarding environment within AL ITTEFAQ STEEL PRODUCTS CO.’s state-of-the-art facility in Dammam. The role involves a combination of on-site supervision, hands-on technical work, and administrative duties. Candidates should be prepared to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure continuous production coverage. Physical demands include standing for extended periods, lifting heavy materials, and working in high-temperature areas.
