Key Responsibilities
As a Manufacturing Quality Engineer at Musco, your core responsibilities will include:
- Root Cause Analysis and Disposition: Conduct thorough root cause analysis on non-conforming parts and customer returns, making informed disposition decisions to mitigate quality risks and prevent recurrence.
- Detailed Inspections and Documentation: Perform meticulous layout inspections on parts and components, documenting results with precision to ensure compliance with defined specifications.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyze quality data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.
- Quality Problem Resolution: Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve quality concerns and implement corrective actions, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Process and Component Audits: Conduct regular audits of manufacturing processes and components to verify adherence to quality standards, ensuring consistency and reliability in our products.
- Gage R&R Studies: Perform Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R) studies to validate the accuracy and reliability of measurement systems, ensuring confidence in inspection results.
- Inspection Plan Development: Prepare and implement comprehensive inspection plans that align with industry best practices and Musco’s quality objectives.
- Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Lead and participate in planned improvement activities, driving efficiency and quality enhancements across the manufacturing floor.
- Additional Duties: Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned to support the overall quality and operational goals of the organization.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, you will bring the following qualifications and experience:
- Education: A two-year technical degree is preferred, though relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Experience: Minimum of three to five years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with a proven track record of driving quality improvements and resolving complex issues.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and component drawings.
- Hands-on experience operating measuring and inspection equipment, including CMM, granite tables, surface plates, height gages, micrometers, calipers, and other precision gages.
- Strong mathematical aptitude, including solid geometry and trigonometry, to support measurement and analysis tasks.
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel, to document findings and generate reports.
- Soft Skills:
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Strong analytical mindset, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Technical aptitude and problem-solving abilities to address quality challenges proactively.
