Storage Backup Administrator

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Storage Backup Administrator to join our dynamic IT infrastructure team. This critical role requires an expert with a minimum of eight years of hands-on experience in enterprise storage, data center infrastructure, and backup environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and securing our SAN/NAS platforms, virtualization integrations, backup and disaster recovery (DR) solutions, as well as ensuring high availability and performance of our storage infrastructure. This position plays a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity, reliability, and efficiency of our data protection and storage systems, supporting both on-premises and cloud-based environments.

Key Responsibilities

The Storage Backup Administrator will be entrusted with a diverse range of responsibilities, including:

• Enterprise Storage Management: Oversee and maintain SAN/NAS storage environments, ensuring optimal performance, capacity utilization, and connectivity. Troubleshoot and resolve complex storage-related issues to minimize downtime and maintain business continuity.
• Virtualization Integration: Provide expert support for storage integrations with leading virtualization platforms, including VMware, Hyper-V, and Nutanix. Collaborate with virtualization teams to ensure seamless data access and storage efficiency across virtualized environments.
• Backup & Disaster Recovery: Administer and optimize enterprise-grade backup and DR solutions, including Veeam, Commvault, and ExaGrid. Develop, implement, and enforce backup policies that align with stringent Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) requirements. Ensure robust data protection and rapid recovery capabilities in the event of a disaster.
• Incident Management & Capacity Planning: Lead the resolution of critical infrastructure incidents (P1/P2), conduct thorough root cause analysis (RCA), and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Proactively manage storage capacity, performance, and availability to support evolving business needs.
• Multi-Site Data Center Support: Provide technical leadership in managing and supporting multi-site data center environments, including DR sites and storage migration projects. Ensure seamless operations across geographically dispersed locations while maintaining high standards of reliability and security.
• Cloud Storage Integration: Support and maintain Azure Storage and Azure Backup environments, ensuring seamless integration with our hybrid cloud strategy. Collaborate with cloud teams to optimize storage costs, performance, and data protection in the cloud.

Required Skills & Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following:

• Extensive Experience: A minimum of eight years of hands-on experience in enterprise storage, data center infrastructure, and backup environments, with a proven track record in managing large-scale storage systems.
• Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with SAN, NAS, storage technologies, backup solutions, and disaster recovery frameworks. Familiarity with Veeam, Commvault, ExaGrid, VMware, and/or Nutanix is essential.
• Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex storage and backup-related issues efficiently. Strong capacity management and performance optimization capabilities are critical.
• Production Environment Experience: Proven experience supporting critical production environments and multi-site data center operations, with a focus on high availability, reliability, and security.
• Collaboration & Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. The ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

While not mandatory, the following qualifications will be considered advantageous:

• Industry-Specific Experience: Prior experience in the banking or financial services sector, with a deep understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements related to data storage and protection.
• Professional Certifications: Relevant certifications in storage, virtualization, or cloud technologies, such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP), or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
