Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Emergency Room (ER) at CARE Hospitals. In this critical role, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring adherence to hospital policies, MOH regulations, and accreditation standards. Your expertise will be pivotal in maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, treatment quality, and clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse ICU,ER will play a vital role in the following areas:
- Patient Care Coordination: Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans tailored to each patient’s needs, utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation) as the foundation for quality care.
- Clinical Assessments and Documentation: Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and pain assessment using appropriate scales), physical examinations, and risk evaluations for falls, pressure ulcers, and venous thromboembolism (VTE). Accurately document all findings and ensure compliance with hospital protocols.
- Medication and Treatment Administration: Prepare and administer medications, blood products, and intravenous therapies as prescribed by attending physicians. Assist in unit-specific invasive procedures and ensure timely execution of medical orders.
- Emergency Response and Critical Care: Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, including cardiac arrests and sudden patient deterioration, in accordance with Basic Life Support (BLS) guidelines. Initiate emergency resuscitative measures and coordinate with other disciplines to manage medical or surgical emergencies.
- Patient and Family Engagement: Involve patients and their families in care management decisions, providing education and support to enhance understanding and compliance with treatment plans.
- Shift Handover and Communication: Participate in comprehensive shift endorsements, including unit general endorsements and patient bedside handovers, to ensure continuity of care. Maintain awareness of all active patient lists, special procedures, and specific instructions for assigned patients.
- Unit Operations and Compliance: Adhere to unit-specific nursing staffing plans, patient acuity-based assignment systems, and scope of service standards. Manage medication preparation, supply inventory, crash cart checks, and equipment readiness. Be prepared to float to other units based on the hospital’s cross-training requirements.
- Admissions, Transfers, and Discharges: Facilitate seamless patient transitions, including admissions, referrals, consultations, transfers, and discharges, in alignment with inpatient protocols and physician orders.
- Professional Development and Collaboration: Attend interdisciplinary rounds with physicians, participate in unit meetings, and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives. Uphold the Nursing Standards of Practice and ensure all care activities align with hospital, departmental, and unit-specific policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following:
- A valid Registered Nurse license with a minimum of two years of experience in ICU or ER settings.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to respond swiftly to emergencies.
- Proficiency in administering medications, intravenous therapies, and invasive procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Commitment to maintaining patient safety, infection control standards, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by the unit’s operational needs.
