Project Manager HIS

Position Overview

We are seeking an accomplished and strategic Project Manager (HIS) to spearhead the end-to-end planning, execution, integration, and delivery of cutting-edge healthcare information systems (HIS) projects for our esteemed client. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the driving force behind the successful implementation of technology solutions that enhance operational efficiency, clinical workflows, and patient care across the organization. Your expertise will be instrumental in aligning technology initiatives with business objectives, regulatory standards, and healthcare best practices, ensuring seamless integration with critical systems such as EMR, EHR, QMS, IVR, ERP, CRM, insurance platforms, laboratory, radiology, and more.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will assume full ownership of HIS implementation projects, from initial scoping to post-go-live support. Your core responsibilities will include:

• Project Leadership and Governance: Lead comprehensive HIS implementation projects, ensuring strict adherence to project governance frameworks, delivery methodologies, and PMO standards. Define project scope, deliverables, objectives, and success criteria in close collaboration with stakeholders, including business, clinical, and executive teams.
• Stakeholder and Vendor Management: Act as the primary liaison between business units, clinical teams, technology departments, vendors, and third-party providers. Manage communication, reporting, and escalation processes with senior leadership and executive stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment.
• System Integration and Interoperability: Oversee the seamless integration of HIS with internal and external platforms, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as HL7, FHIR, and API. Facilitate interoperability between HIS and critical systems, including EMR, EHR, laboratory, radiology, insurance, and ERP solutions.
• Risk and Change Management: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, dependencies, and issues. Drive change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption among clinical and non-clinical users, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational readiness.
• Testing and Validation: Coordinate System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and go-live readiness assessments. Validate data migration accuracy, system performance, and compliance with regulatory requirements to ensure a flawless deployment.
• Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and present regular project status reports, highlighting progress, risks, key performance indicators (KPIs), and critical decisions. Conduct steering committee meetings and maintain meticulous project documentation to support audit trails and compliance.
• Regulatory and Compliance Alignment: Ensure all project activities align with healthcare operational standards, regulatory requirements, and business objectives. Leverage knowledge of frameworks such as NPHIES and HIMSS to enhance project outcomes and organizational maturity.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is highly desirable.
• Professional Experience: Minimum of 7 years of project management experience, with at least 5 years dedicated to managing HIS, hospital technology, or healthcare IT projects. Prior experience in delivering multi-facility or hospital-wide HIS implementations is essential.
• Certifications: PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or equivalent project management certifications are preferred. Healthcare-specific certifications, such as those offered by HIMSS or HL7, are a plus.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of enterprise HIS platforms, including Cerner, Epic, InterSystems, Oracle Health, or similar solutions. Proficiency in HL7, FHIR, API integration, data migration, and system interoperability is critical.
• Healthcare Domain Knowledge: In-depth understanding of healthcare workflows, including clinical operations, billing, insurance processes, laboratory, and radiology systems. Experience with healthcare digital transformation programs and regulated environments is highly beneficial.
• Vendor and Partner Management: Demonstrated ability to manage vendors, implementation partners, and third-party technology providers, ensuring adherence to contracts, SLAs, and performance benchmarks.
