Key Responsibilities

As an Azure FinOps & Cloud Cost Analyst, your core responsibilities will include:

• Cloud Cost Optimization: Analyze and monitor Azure cloud spending to identify cost-saving opportunities, including rightsizing resources, eliminating waste, and leveraging reserved instances or savings plans to maximize cost efficiency.
• Financial Governance & Reporting: Develop and maintain comprehensive financial reports, dashboards, and cost allocation models to provide transparency and accountability across business units. Ensure adherence to budgetary constraints and financial policies.
• FinOps Framework Implementation: Champion the adoption of FinOps principles within the organization, fostering a culture of cost awareness and accountability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align cloud spending with business objectives.
• Cost Allocation & Chargeback/Showback: Design and implement mechanisms for accurate cost allocation, enabling departments to understand their cloud usage and associated costs. Support chargeback or showback processes where applicable.
• Vendor & Contract Management: Work closely with procurement and vendor management teams to negotiate Azure contracts, evaluate pricing models, and ensure compliance with negotiated terms and conditions.
• Data Analysis & Insights: Utilize advanced analytical tools and techniques to interpret cloud usage patterns, forecast future expenditures, and provide actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with IT, finance, and business teams to align cloud financial management strategies with organizational goals. Serve as a trusted advisor on cloud cost optimization and financial best practices.
• Compliance & Audit Support: Ensure compliance with internal and external financial audits, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies related to cloud spending and financial reporting.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as FinOps Certified Practitioner, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or Azure FinOps are highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cloud financial management, FinOps, or related roles, with a strong focus on Azure cloud environments. Prior experience in cost analysis, financial reporting, or IT finance is essential.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of Azure cost management tools, such as Azure Cost Management + Billing, Azure Advisor, and Power BI. Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and cloud billing APIs is a plus.
• Analytical Skills: Exceptional ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and generate actionable insights. Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is required.
• Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present financial insights to non-technical stakeholders. Experience working in cross-functional teams is preferred.
• Problem-Solving: A proactive mindset with a passion for solving complex financial challenges in a cloud environment. Ability to think strategically and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
