In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade protection infrastructure, ensuring adherence to the highest industry standards while driving continuous improvement. Your technical acumen and problem-solving mindset will be instrumental in reducing downtime, preventing failures, and safeguarding assets in one of the region’s most advanced power complexes.

Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day impact will be defined by a blend of technical leadership and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include:

• System Optimization & Maintenance: Lead the maintenance, calibration, and optimization of electrical protection systems, including protective relays, circuit breakers, and fault detection mechanisms, to ensure peak performance and reliability.
• Fault Analysis & Troubleshooting: Conduct in-depth fault data extraction, analysis, and root cause investigations to identify and resolve protection system anomalies, minimizing operational disruptions.
• Testing & Commissioning: Perform comprehensive testing, calibration, and commissioning of protection relays and associated equipment using advanced tools such as Omicron and Megger, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and industry benchmarks.
• Project Support & Upgrades: Assist in the design, implementation, and integration of protection system modifications, upgrades, and enhancements, aligning with strategic initiatives and operational needs.
• Compliance & Safety: Uphold strict adherence to safety protocols, company policies, and global standards (including NFPA 70E) to foster a culture of safety and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborative Leadership: Partner closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Project teams during critical phases such as shutdowns, turnarounds, and system enhancements, ensuring alignment and execution of technical solutions.

Required Qualifications

To excel in this role, you must possess a robust foundation in electrical protection engineering and a proven track record of delivering technical excellence. We are seeking candidates with:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, complemented by 10+ years of specialized experience in electrical protection engineering within power generation, utilities, or large-scale industrial environments.
• Hands-on expertise in protective relays, fault analysis, and protection system troubleshooting, with a deep understanding of relay testing methodologies and equipment.
• Proficient experience with industry-leading relay platforms, including SEL, Siemens, GE, MiCOM, Beckwith, REG-DA, and TAPCON, as well as tools like Omicron and Megger for testing and calibration.
• Technical mastery of critical protection schemes such as Transformer Differential Protection, Line Differential Protection, Motor & Generator Protection, Overcurrent & Earth Fault Protection, High Impedance Busbar Protection, Arc Flash Protection, Synchronizing Systems, Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVR), and HV/MV/EHV Protection Schemes.

Preferred Qualifications

While not mandatory, the following qualifications will further strengthen your candidacy:

• A Master’s Degree in Power Systems Engineering or a related field, demonstrating advanced technical knowledge and strategic thinking.
• Certifications in protection relay systems (e.g., SEL, Siemens, GE, Beckwith) and electrical safety (NFPA 70E), validating your expertise and commitment to best practices.
• Experience with SAP PM or CMMS systems, enabling seamless integration with enterprise maintenance workflows.
