Position Overview

Magrabi Health is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Biomedical Engineer to join our team in Jeddah. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and reliability of medical equipment across our facilities. Your expertise will directly contribute to enhancing patient care, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This position requires a proactive professional who can work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional technical support and maintenance services.

Key Responsibilities

The Biomedical Engineer will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing the functionality of diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment. Your core responsibilities will include:

• Equipment Maintenance and Repairs: Conducting repairs, testing, and calibrations for medical equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and predefined schedules to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Preventive Maintenance Planning: Developing and executing a comprehensive annual plan for inspection, testing, and maintenance to proactively address potential issues and minimize downtime.
• Inventory Management: Overseeing the availability and accuracy of medical equipment and surgical instruments inventory to support seamless clinical operations.
• Radiation and Laser Safety Compliance: Monitoring and enforcing radiation safety protocols, including laser safety, in alignment with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
• Reporting and Documentation: Submitting monthly performance indicators to the biomedical engineering manager and maintaining detailed records of all repairs, calibrations, and modifications for compliance and auditing purposes.
• Training and Support: Providing formal and informal training to physicians, nurses, and technical staff on the proper operation of medical equipment, including real-time technical support during critical medical procedures and surgeries.
• Problem-Solving and Analysis: Utilizing analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, engaging with internal and external stakeholders as necessary to ensure timely and effective solutions.
• Equipment Assessment and Selection: Identifying aging or obsolete patient care equipment and providing supporting documentation for the evaluation, justification, and procurement of new equipment in collaboration with management.
• Vendor and Supplier Coordination: Liaising with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to facilitate equipment servicing, upgrades, and procurement processes.
• Professional Conduct and Work Environment: Maintaining a neat and orderly work area, adhering to organizational policies, and demonstrating professionalism in all interactions with colleagues, staff, and customers. Additionally, utilizing unassigned time to expand knowledge on emerging technologies and procedural advancements.
• Incident Response: Serving as a first responder to medical equipment-related issues in patient occurrence reports, gathering critical information to support investigations and corrective actions.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or an equivalent field from a recognized institution.
• Experience: Minimum of five years of hands-on experience in biomedical engineering, with a proven track record in medical equipment maintenance and repair.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment, including calibration procedures and safety protocols.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
• Compliance and Safety: Familiarity with medical equipment management plans, regulatory policies, and safety standards, including radiation and laser safety measures.
• Adaptability: Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to evolving technological and operational demands.
