Key Responsibilities

As a **Linux Engineer**, your responsibilities will include:

• Advanced Linux Support & Troubleshooting: Provide **L2/L3 support** for Linux systems, diagnosing and resolving complex incidents ranging from boot failures and kernel issues to service disruptions and package management challenges. Your expertise will ensure minimal downtime and optimal system stability.
• Performance Optimization: Fine-tune Linux environments for **CPU, memory, storage, and NVIDIA GPU workloads**, ensuring peak efficiency for high-demand applications and scientific computing tasks.
• Automation & Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain **scalable automation pipelines** using **Ansible, Puppet, Bash, and Python**, reducing manual intervention and improving deployment consistency. Leverage **GitLab CI/CD** to streamline infrastructure lifecycle management.
• VDI & Containerized Workloads: Support and configure **SLURM, AWS DCV, Docker, and Kasm Workspaces** to deliver seamless virtual desktop and containerized environments. Troubleshoot **NFS/SMB storage** and containerized applications to ensure smooth user experiences.
• Security & Compliance: Perform **OS patching, vulnerability management, and system hardening** using tools like **Automox and Nessus** to maintain a secure and compliant infrastructure.
• Scientific & Runtime Environments: Administer and configure **Lmod/Environment Modules** to manage complex scientific runtime environments, ensuring researchers and engineers have access to the tools they need.
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA) & Continuous Improvement: Conduct thorough **root cause analyses** for system issues and implement **preventive automation improvements** to enhance resilience and efficiency.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with infrastructure teams to resolve issues beyond the VDI layer, fostering a culture of shared responsibility and innovation.
