Database Encryption & Database Security Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Encryption & Database Security Engineer to join our team in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, for a long-term onsite project assignment. In this critical role, you will be responsible for safeguarding sensitive and mission-critical databases through robust encryption, security monitoring, and compliance measures. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our database environments while ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the following areas:

• Database Encryption & Security Implementation: Lead the encryption of sensitive and critical databases, ensuring adherence to security policies and industry standards. Maintain and optimize encryption configurations to mitigate risks associated with unauthorized access.
• Security Monitoring & Integration: Deploy and manage database security monitoring solutions, integrating them seamlessly with in-scope database environments. Configure monitoring policies, audit rules, alerts, and security controls to detect and respond to potential threats in real time.
• Database Onboarding & Compliance: Onboard additional database servers and applications into the security monitoring platform, ensuring comprehensive coverage. Support security assessments, compliance reviews, and audit evidence collection to demonstrate adherence to regulatory frameworks.
• Privileged Access & Activity Monitoring: Assist in privileged-user monitoring and database access-control activities to prevent unauthorized or suspicious actions. Investigate and analyze database activity to identify anomalies and mitigate security incidents.
• Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with Database Administrators (DBAs) to implement and enforce database security and encryption requirements. Coordinate with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and Security Operations Center (SOC) teams to integrate database security alerts and enhance threat detection capabilities.
• System Maintenance & Documentation: Perform platform health checks, troubleshoot issues, and execute upgrades to ensure optimal performance. Maintain accurate technical documentation, configuration records, and operational procedures to support audit readiness and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and experience:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in database security, database administration, cybersecurity, or data protection. Proficiency with enterprise database platforms such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQL is essential.
• Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of database encryption methodologies, auditing, access controls, privileged access management, and database activity monitoring (DAM). Familiarity with enterprise DAM platforms such as Imperva, IBM Guardium, or Oracle Audit Vault/Database Vault is highly desirable.
• SIEM/SOC Integration: Experience integrating database security alerts with SIEM/SOC platforms is a significant advantage.
• Certifications: CompTIA Security+ or an equivalent recognized cybersecurity certification is mandatory. Preferred certifications include Imperva Data Security/DAM, IBM Guardium, Thales DAM-related training, or Oracle/Microsoft SQL Server security or administration certifications.
• Work Arrangement: Full-time onsite presence in Dammam is required.
