Access Management Consultant

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Access Management Consultant to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise-level Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions, with a strong focus on governance, risk management, and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in IAM platforms, privileged access management (PAM), and access control frameworks, ensuring robust security posture while aligning with business objectives. This position requires a strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into actionable governance policies and operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities

The Access Management Consultant will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s access governance framework. Your core responsibilities will include conducting thorough discovery and current-state assessments to identify critical access tiers, develop wave plans, and establish baseline improvement initiatives. You will be instrumental in authoring and maintaining a comprehensive governance set, including:

• Access Management Policy: Defining the overarching principles and standards for access governance across the enterprise.
• Operating Model: Designing the organizational structure and workflows to support sustainable access management practices.
• Standard Documentation: Developing role-based access control (RBAC) models, naming standards, user access matrix standards, and segregation of duties (SoD) frameworks.
• Procedure Development: Creating detailed procedures for key processes such as Joiner-Mover-Leaver (JML), access request and approval, privileged access management, break-glass scenarios, non-human account management, user access reviews, and exception and risk acceptance protocols.

Additionally, you will deliver governance review reports for IAM and PAM platforms, outlining improvement plans to enhance security and operational efficiency. Your expertise will be leveraged to produce access control references for critical infrastructure components, including Active Directory, databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL), applications, and integration layers. You will design and execute certification campaigns, maintain remediation trackers, and establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and key risk indicators (KRIs) to monitor compliance and performance.

This role also involves issuing monthly governance reports and dashboards to stakeholders, chairing governance forums, and ensuring seamless knowledge transfer to designated teams. Your contributions will be vital in maintaining a secure, compliant, and efficient access management environment.

Required Skills & Technical Expertise

To excel in this role, you must demonstrate hands-on experience with leading enterprise IAM platforms, including SailPoint, Saviynt, One Identity, or Microsoft Entra ID Governance. Proficiency in privileged access management (PAM) platforms such as CyberArk, Delinea, or BeyondTrust is essential. Your technical foundation should include:

• Active Directory: Deep knowledge of groups, privileged groups, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), tiering models, and service accounts.
• Database Access Control: Expertise in access models for Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
• Integration-Layer Access: Experience with service accounts, API credentials, and secrets management.
• Governance Frameworks: Strong understanding of RBAC, access certification, access reviews, JML processes, SoD, privileged access, and access governance principles.
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in PowerShell and SQL for automation, access analysis, and reporting. Expert-level capabilities in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and governance matrices, as well as Power BI for developing KPI/KRI dashboards and executive reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

While not mandatory, candidates with the following qualifications will be given preference:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications in IAM, PAM, Cybersecurity, IT Governance, or Information Security.
• Proven stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
• Exceptional documentation, analytical, and communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Prior experience working in large-scale enterprise environments or highly regulated industries, such as finance, healthcare, or government sectors.
