Key Responsibilities

As the First Team Physiologist, your expertise will be instrumental in:

• Harnessing cutting-edge technologies to collect, analyze, and interpret performance data, including GPS tracking, heart rate monitoring, and biometric assessments, to tailor workload management and optimize player readiness.
• Designing and implementing position-specific conditioning programs aligned with tactical periodization, ensuring athletes are physically prepared for every challenge.
• Developing and refining recovery protocols utilizing modalities such as cryotherapy, hydration strategies, and advanced rehabilitation techniques, all while monitoring readiness scores to enhance recovery outcomes.
• Conducting comprehensive screenings and assessments to identify injury risks, and collaborating with medical staff to devise corrective strategies and support return-to-play protocols.
• Fostering cross-departmental collaboration to align performance strategies, ensuring a cohesive and unified approach to athlete development.
• Staying at the forefront of sports science by adopting emerging technologies and continuously updating your knowledge base to incorporate the latest research and innovations.
• Adhering to stringent data privacy standards, maintaining accurate reporting, and supporting travel logistics as needed to ensure seamless operations with the team.
• Upholding professional development standards and assisting the Head of Performance with additional responsibilities to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you must possess:

• Essential:
• A Master’s Degree in Physiology, Sports Science, or a related discipline, with a proven track record as a physiologist in elite or professional sports environments.
• Extensive experience in performance testing, movement analysis, and the design of conditioning programs tailored to athletic demands.
• An analytical mindset with a strong ability to interpret complex datasets and translate them into actionable insights for athlete development.
• In-depth knowledge of athlete preparation, recovery methodologies, and both gym-based and field-based training principles.
• Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring session quality, data accuracy, and prioritizing athlete safety at all times.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken, to facilitate effective communication within a multicultural team environment.
• Desirable:
• Advanced qualifications, such as a PhD in Physiology, Sports Science, or a related field.
• Accreditation or registration with a recognized professional body, validating your expertise and commitment to best practices.
• Multilingual proficiency, particularly in Spanish and Arabic, to bridge communication gaps and enhance collaboration.
• Prior experience working within a professional club in the Middle East, offering insights into regional sports culture and operational dynamics.
