WELDING TRAINER / TECHNICIAN

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Welding Trainer / Technician to join our team at ALI A. AL-ZAYER & PARTNER CO in Dammam. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing expert-level training, guidance, and technical support in welding processes to ensure the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency across our operations. This role demands a deep understanding of welding techniques, industry best practices, and the ability to mentor both junior and senior technicians to uphold our commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Training and Development: Conduct comprehensive welding training programs for employees, covering various techniques such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Cored welding. Develop and update training materials to align with industry standards and company requirements.
• Technical Expertise: Provide hands-on technical guidance and troubleshooting for welding-related challenges, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality control measures. Evaluate and certify the competency of welders through practical assessments.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect welding workmanship to verify compliance with project specifications, industry codes, and regulatory standards. Implement corrective actions when deviations are identified to maintain high-quality output.
• Process Optimization: Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify opportunities for improving welding processes, reducing waste, and enhancing productivity without compromising safety or quality.
• Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to occupational health and safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper handling of welding equipment. Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions to mitigate workplace hazards.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of training sessions, welder certifications, and inspection reports. Prepare detailed reports on welding performance, non-conformities, and corrective actions for management review.
• Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the proper maintenance and calibration of welding equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Coordinate with maintenance teams to address any technical issues promptly.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and attributes:

• Education: A diploma or degree in Welding Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Professional certifications such as AWS (American Welding Society) or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in welding, with at least 2 years in a training or supervisory capacity. Proven track record in mentoring and developing welding professionals.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of welding processes, metallurgy, and industry standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO). Familiarity with welding codes and specifications relevant to the oil and gas, construction, or manufacturing sectors is advantageous.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and motivate teams. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently.
• Certifications: Valid welding certifications (e.g., CWI - Certified Welding Inspector) and a valid driver’s license may be required.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English and Arabic is preferred, with the ability to read and interpret technical documents and safety manuals.

Work Environment

The Welding Trainer / Technician will operate in a dynamic and fast-paced industrial environment, including workshops, fabrication yards, and on-site locations. The role may require occasional travel to client sites or training facilities. The position demands physical stamina, as it involves standing for extended periods, lifting moderate weights, and working in confined spaces or at heights.
