Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Control and Protection Engineer specializing in generators, your core responsibilities will include:

• System Design and Development: Lead the design, configuration, and optimization of control and protection systems for synchronous and asynchronous generators, ensuring compliance with international standards and best practices.
• Protection Scheme Implementation: Develop and implement generator protection schemes, including differential protection, overcurrent protection, under/overvoltage protection, and frequency protection, to safeguard against faults and abnormal operating conditions.
• Control System Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate generator control systems with power plant automation, SCADA, and distributed control systems (DCS), ensuring seamless operation and real-time monitoring.
• Testing and Commissioning: Conduct rigorous testing, validation, and commissioning of control and protection systems, including factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and performance verification to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Provide expert-level troubleshooting for control and protection system anomalies, diagnose issues, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and enhance system reliability.
• Documentation and Compliance: Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including system manuals, operating procedures, and compliance reports, adhering to Siemens Energy’s quality management systems and regulatory requirements.
• Technical Leadership: Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to ensure the successful execution of projects, while staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in generator control and protection.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams to align project objectives, resolve technical challenges, and deliver high-quality solutions that meet operational and business needs.

Qualifications and Experience

To qualify for this role, candidates must possess the following:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PE) is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in control and protection engineering, with a strong focus on power generation systems, particularly generators. Experience with Siemens Energy products or similar technologies is highly desirable.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in control system design tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, ETAP), protection relay programming (e.g., Siemens SIPROTEC, GE Multilin), and SCADA/DCS platforms. Knowledge of IEC 61850, IEEE standards, and generator protection principles is essential.
• Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team environment. Strong project management and leadership capabilities are required.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications in power systems, control engineering, or generator protection are advantageous.
