Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Accounting Manager to oversee and drive the financial integrity of our organization. In this pivotal role, you will lead the General Accounting Function within the Transaction Finance Division, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, optimizing operational efficiency, and delivering accurate financial reporting. Reporting directly to the Transaction Finance Director, you will manage a team of accounting professionals while contributing to strategic financial planning and decision-making. Key Responsibilities
The General Accounting Manager will be responsible for a broad spectrum of financial activities, including revenue accounting, payroll processing, fixed asset management, and general ledger operations. Your core duties will include:
- Strategic Leadership and Planning:
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute the Transaction Finance Division’s strategic plan, aligning the General Accounting Function with overarching business objectives.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the General Accounting Function, ensuring continuous progress toward operational goals.
- Implement robust frameworks, methodologies, and best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations.
- Make informed operational decisions, escalating critical matters to senior leadership as necessary, and ensure clear communication of plans and expectations across all levels of the organization.
- Optimize resource allocation to maximize team productivity and recommend strategic improvements to drive cost savings and operational excellence.
- Financial Operations and Compliance:
- Develop and enforce standardized procedures to ensure systematic and compliant financial operations, adhering to approved policies, processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in systems, processes, and practices, focusing on cost reduction, productivity enhancement, and alignment with industry best practices.
- Oversee revenue accounting activities, including the timely and accurate accumulation, adjustment, and reporting of financial data, while ensuring proper handling of bad debts and reconciliation between collection channels and IT systems.
- Manage payroll accounting by reviewing employee data, processing salaries, benefits, and pension payments, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Supervise fixed asset accounting, including standardized asset coding, depreciation calculations, financial reviews of asset disposals, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Reporting and Financial Analysis:
- Develop and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting statements, supporting schedules, and reconciliation reports to facilitate accurate financial reporting and decision-making.
- Analyze financial transactions, journal entries, and ledger postings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
- Provide detailed instructions for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, and monitor the closing process to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
- Consolidate revenue collection reports and participate in financial statement preparation, ensuring alignment with corporate reporting standards.
Key Stakeholder Engagement
The General Accounting Manager will serve as a critical liaison between the accounting function and various internal and external stakeholders, including:
- Internal Stakeholders: Collaborate with all departments to ensure seamless financial operations and alignment with business objectives.
- Payroll and Benefits Administrator: Coordinate payroll processing and ensure accurate recording of compensation-related transactions.
- External Stakeholders: Engage with banks and suppliers to facilitate smooth payment processing, reconciliation, and financial transactions.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA is highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or supervisory role within a general accounting function.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks), advanced Excel skills, and a strong understanding of GAAP or IFRS standards.
- Leadership and Communication: Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a high-performing accounting team, with exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, tax compliance, and internal controls, with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity.
