Hazmat Officer / Hazardous Materials Specialist

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hazmat Officer / Hazardous Materials Specialist to join our esteemed medical group in Saudi Arabia. This full-time position, offered under a three-year employment contract, requires a professional dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance in the management, handling, storage, and emergency response of hazardous materials. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in hazardous materials operations, preferably with prior experience in the GCC region, and a commitment to maintaining a secure and compliant work environment.

Key Responsibilities

The Hazmat Officer will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our operations by overseeing all aspects of hazardous materials management. Your core responsibilities will include:

• Material Management: Oversee the safe handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with company safety protocols and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) regulations.
• Compliance & Documentation: Ensure strict adherence to all applicable safety procedures, maintain accurate records of hazardous materials, and uphold comprehensive documentation of safety inspections and incidents.
• Risk Assessment: Identify hazardous materials within the facility, assess associated risks, and implement preventive measures to mitigate potential hazards.
• Emergency Response: Lead and support emergency response procedures during chemical or hazardous material incidents, coordinating with relevant teams to ensure swift and effective resolution.
• Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections to identify potential hazards, evaluate the effectiveness of existing safety measures, and recommend improvements where necessary.
• PPE & Equipment Management: Ensure the availability, proper use, and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and emergency response tools across all departments.
• Training & Awareness: Provide safety awareness training and guidance to employees on hazardous material handling procedures, fostering a culture of safety and compliance throughout the organization.
• Incident Reporting: Maintain a vigilant approach to workplace safety by promptly reporting any violations, near-misses, or incidents, and collaborating with management to implement corrective actions.

Requirements & Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: A relevant diploma, degree, or professional certification in Hazmat Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Safety, Emergency Response, or a closely related field.
• Experience: Proven experience as a Hazmat Officer or Hazardous Materials Specialist, with a strong understanding of hazardous material handling and safety protocols.
• Regional Experience: Prior experience working in the GCC region is highly advantageous, though not mandatory for all applicants.
• Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of hazardous material transportation, storage, disposal, and emergency response procedures, along with proficiency in risk assessment and safety management systems.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, reporting, and emergency response capabilities, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
