Fixed Asset Accountant

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Fixed Asset Accountant to join our finance team. In this critical role, you will oversee the accurate recording and management of fixed assets, lease accounting, and intangible assets in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Your responsibilities will include executing daily accounting operations, ensuring financial data integrity, and supporting month-end and year-end closing processes. Key Responsibilities

As a Fixed Asset Accountant, your core duties will encompass a range of specialized accounting functions, including:

• General Accounting:
  • Record journal entries for all financial transactions, ensuring alignment with supporting documentation and accounting standards.
  • Perform comprehensive bank reconciliations and reconcile account balances at month-end to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Review and validate expenses and revenues for proper classification, ensuring organized and compliant transaction records.
• Lease Accounting (IFRS 16):
  • Set up and manage lease contracts within the D365 Asset Leasing module, including the calculation of present values and recognition of Right-of-Use (ROU) assets and lease liabilities.
  • Process lease payments and execute monthly depreciation and finance cost runs to ensure accurate financial representation.
  • Monitor expiring contracts, post renewal accruals, and collaborate with the Commercial Expansion team to maintain lease data integrity.
• Fixed Assets & Intangibles (IAS 16 / IAS 38):
  • Oversee the entire asset lifecycle within the D365 Fixed Assets module, including capitalizations, Construction-in-Progress (CWIP) monitoring, and asset transfers to active status.
  • Develop and maintain depreciation and amortization schedules, while conducting periodic impairment reviews to assess asset values.
  • Capitalize and amortize qualified intangible expenditures in accordance with IAS 38 standards.
• Closing & Reporting:
  • Post month-end asset journal entries, execute depreciation and amortization batches, and prepare detailed roll-forward schedules for financial analysis.
  • Support the monthly and annual closing processes, contributing to the preparation of financial statements and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Follow up on facility payments and provide accurate data for internal and external audits to facilitate seamless review processes.

Qualifications & Experience

To excel in this role, you should meet the following criteria:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications such as SOCPA or CMA are highly desirable.
• Experience:
  • 2–4 years of progressive experience in general accounting, with a preference for candidates who have exposure to fixed assets and lease accounting.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) is essential, particularly with the Fixed Assets and/or Asset Leasing modules.
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS 16, IAS 16, and IAS 38 to ensure compliance with international accounting standards.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, particularly D365, and familiarity with accounting software and tools.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including auditors and commercial stakeholders.
