Key Responsibilities

As a Rock Climbing Instructor at SportPlex, your core responsibilities will include:

• Instruction and Coaching: Deliver high-quality climbing and bouldering sessions tailored to participants of varying ages, abilities, and experience levels. Develop progressive lesson plans that enhance climbing techniques, strength, and confidence.
• Safety and Supervision: Conduct thorough safety checks of climbing walls, equipment, and harnesses before each session. Monitor participants closely to ensure adherence to safety protocols and provide immediate assistance in case of emergencies.
• Participant Development: Assess individual progress and provide constructive feedback to help climbers achieve their goals. Foster a supportive and motivating environment that encourages skill development and a lifelong love for climbing.
• Group Management: Lead group sessions with exceptional organizational and communication skills. Manage diverse groups, including children, teenagers, and adults, ensuring an enjoyable and inclusive experience for all.
• Emergency Preparedness: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of first aid procedures and emergency response protocols. Be prepared to act swiftly and effectively in the event of an incident.
• Program Development: Collaborate with the team to design and implement climbing programs, workshops, and events that cater to different skill levels and interests. Contribute creative ideas to enhance participant engagement and retention.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

• Certifications: Hold a recognized qualification in climbing instruction, bouldering, or climbing-wall supervision. Certifications such as those from the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC), American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA), or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Experience: Proven experience in teaching climbing skills and supervising indoor climbing activities. Prior experience working with children and young people is a significant advantage.
• Safety Knowledge: In-depth understanding of climbing safety protocols, equipment inspection, and emergency procedures. Current certification in First Aid and Safeguarding is required.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in Arabic is a plus, as it will enhance your ability to connect with a broader audience.
• Personal Attributes: A genuine passion for climbing and a strong desire to inspire and mentor others. Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, school holidays, and camp periods.
