Forward Deployed Engineer

Role Overview

As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) at Wonderful, you will tackle high-impact, real-world challenges in collaboration with enterprise customers while driving projects from inception to production outcomes. This role offers the unique opportunity to work directly with clients, identifying critical workflows, designing AI-driven solutions, and deploying agents that deliver measurable value in live environments. You will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle—from defining problems and designing systems to launching solutions and iterating based on performance. Key Responsibilities

• Customer Collaboration: Partner closely with enterprise clients to diagnose operational challenges, align on success metrics, and translate business needs into technical requirements.
• Technical Design & Implementation: Convert open-ended problems into structured technical designs, leveraging AI and automation to create scalable solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing customer systems.
• AI Agent Development: Design, build, and deploy AI agents capable of performing real-world tasks within customer environments, ensuring reliability, performance, and adherence to business objectives.
• End-to-End Ownership: Lead projects from problem definition through production deployment, including reliability engineering, performance optimization, and continuous improvement based on real-world data.
• Data-Driven Iteration: Conduct rigorous testing with authentic customer data, measure outcomes, and refine solutions to maximize impact and efficiency.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside Product and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality, customer-centric solutions while contributing to scalable tools, documentation, and best practices that enhance delivery efficiency.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, you should possess:

• 5+ Years of Experience: A proven track record in software engineering or technical problem-solving, with a strong foundation in software design and system architecture.
• Systemic Thinking: The ability to analyze complex workflows, identify integration points, and design solutions that span multiple systems and data flows.
• Customer-Centric Mindset: Comfort engaging directly with stakeholders, translating business needs into technical solutions, and owning ambiguous challenges with confidence.
• Strong Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills to articulate technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively across teams and with customers.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, the following experiences are advantageous:

• Prior exposure to forward-deployed engineering, solutions engineering, or customer-facing technical roles.
• Hands-on experience with AI agents, automation frameworks, or conversational AI systems.
• Expertise in operating and optimizing production systems to ensure reliability and performance.
