Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electric Design Engineer to join our dynamic team at Al Garafi Engineering Consultancy in Jeddah. As an Electric Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, reviewing, and optimizing electrical systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional engineering solutions. Your expertise will contribute to the success of diverse projects, ranging from commercial and industrial facilities to infrastructure developments.

Key Responsibilities

• System Design and Development: Design electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and communication networks, in compliance with local and international codes and standards such as NEC, IEC, and NFPA.
• Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or ETAP. Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and adheres to project requirements.
• Load Calculations and Analysis: Perform load calculations, short-circuit analysis, and coordination studies to ensure system reliability and safety. Utilize software tools to validate design assumptions and optimize performance.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with relevant regulations, including Saudi Building Code (SBC), Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) standards, and other applicable local authorities' requirements. Coordinate with authorities for necessary approvals and permits.
• Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Collaborate with procurement and project management teams to develop accurate cost estimates for electrical components and systems. Provide recommendations to optimize budget allocation without compromising quality.
• Project Coordination: Work closely with architects, mechanical engineers, civil engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into overall project designs. Participate in design reviews, meetings, and site inspections as required.
• Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve electrical design challenges, offering innovative solutions to mitigate risks and enhance system performance. Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for proposed designs.
• Sustainability and Energy Efficiency: Incorporate energy-efficient solutions, renewable energy integration, and sustainable design practices into projects. Stay updated with the latest advancements in green building technologies and smart grid systems.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution. A master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PE, LEED, or CEM) are advantageous.
• Professional Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in electrical design engineering, preferably within the construction, infrastructure, or consulting sectors in the Middle East or similar markets.
• Technical Proficiency: Profound knowledge of electrical design principles, codes, and software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, Dialux, or SKM). Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) processes is a plus.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex electrical systems, interpret data, and develop practical solutions. Attention to detail and a methodical approach to troubleshooting are essential.
• Communication and Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in Arabic is a valuable asset. Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and present technical information clearly to stakeholders.
• Project Management: Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines, and delivering high-quality results within budget constraints.
