Role Overview

The Child Psychiatry Consultant will play a pivotal role in our dedicated team, providing full-time, on-site psychiatric care to children and adolescents at Al-Sobh Hospital in Jeddah. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young lives by delivering comprehensive diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, and ongoing psychiatric care. The consultant will work closely with families and caregivers to support recovery, development, and overall well-being. Daily responsibilities include conducting thorough psychiatric evaluations, prescribing and monitoring medications when clinically indicated, and delivering psychotherapeutic interventions. The role extends beyond direct patient care to include active participation in multidisciplinary case discussions, the development of clinical protocols, and the maintenance of accurate, timely documentation in compliance with hospital standards and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for children and adolescents, including detailed assessments of mental health conditions and developmental factors.

• Prescribe, monitor, and adjust medications in accordance with evidence-based guidelines and patient-specific requirements.
• Provide psychotherapeutic interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), family therapy, and other evidence-based modalities tailored to the needs of young patients.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including psychologists, social workers, pediatricians, and other specialists, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
• Participate in case discussions, clinical audits, and the development of hospital-wide protocols to enhance the quality of mental health services.
• Maintain accurate and detailed clinical documentation in compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and ethical guidelines.
• Educate families and caregivers about mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for supporting their children’s recovery and development.
• Promote early intervention and awareness of child and adolescent mental health issues through community outreach, educational initiatives, and hospital-led programs.
• Stay current with advancements in child and adolescent psychiatry through continuous professional development, training, and participation in relevant conferences or workshops.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and possess the following skills:

• Holding a medical degree (MD or equivalent) with completed residency training in psychiatry and formal fellowship or specialization in child and adolescent psychiatry.
• Possessing a valid license to practice psychiatry in the relevant jurisdiction, with eligibility for credentialing within hospital and national regulatory frameworks.
• Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of mental health conditions in children and adolescents using evidence-based approaches.
• Strong clinical skills in psychiatric assessment, treatment planning, and risk management, with a focus on the unique needs of young patients.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and engagement with children, youth, and families.
• A high level of cultural sensitivity, ethical practice, and commitment to providing non-discriminatory, patient-centered care.
• Ability to manage a structured caseload, maintain meticulous clinical documentation, and adhere to quality and safety protocols.
• Preferred experience in hospital or clinical settings; participation in teaching, supervision, or mental health advocacy is considered an advantage.
