The Opportunity

As a Senior/Staff Data Engineer within the Customer Experience Group (CEG), you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining the data and software foundations that empower CEG’s business users to deliver exceptional service across all customer contact channels. Your responsibilities will span collaboration with Product, Operations, Analytics, Operations Efficiency, Workforce Management (WFM), DevOps, and engineering teams to develop reliable data pipelines, scalable data models, internal tools, and actionable insights. This role demands versatility, as you will seamlessly transition between hands-on engineering tasks—such as pipeline development, data modeling, and tooling optimization—and analytical work, including business problem-solving, dashboard creation, and in-depth analysis. At the Staff level, you will not only execute but also strategically shape CEG’s data and tooling roadmap, influence cross-team architectural decisions, and elevate the team’s engineering and data standards to new heights.

What You’ll Do

Data Engineering

• Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and serve data from CEG systems, including case management platforms, telephony, chat, bots, quality assurance tools, workforce management systems, CRM platforms, and third-party integrations.
• Data Modeling: Develop and optimize data models, such as warehouse tables, data marts, and views, to support CEG’s reporting, monitoring, forecasting, quality assurance, and experimentation initiatives.
• Data Quality & Observability: Implement robust validation checks, anomaly detection mechanisms, and monitoring frameworks to ensure the reliability and accuracy of key CEG datasets and metrics. Collaborate with stakeholders to define data ownership, service-level agreements (SLAs), and standardized definitions for critical tables and metrics.
• Performance Optimization: Enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of data jobs and queries through techniques such as partitioning, indexing, query tuning, and storage format optimization, particularly for high-volume CEG data sources like call logs, chat transcripts, emails, cases, and events.
• Collaboration & Best Practices: Partner with data platform and engineering teams to establish and enforce standardized tooling and best practices, including version control, CI/CD for data and services, code review processes, comprehensive documentation, and operational runbooks.

Data Tools & Product Development

• Tool Development: Design and build internal data tools and products tailored to CEG’s needs, such as self-service analytics platforms, case monitoring dashboards, and automated alerting systems.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Translate complex business requirements into technical solutions by collaborating closely with product managers, operations teams, and other stakeholders. Ensure that tools and insights are intuitive, actionable, and aligned with CEG’s strategic objectives.
• Innovation & Scalability: Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance existing tools, automate manual processes, and introduce cutting-edge technologies that improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
