Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Registrar Emergency Room Physician to join our esteemed medical team at Riyadh Care Hospital in Makkah. This pivotal role demands a seasoned professional capable of delivering exceptional emergency medical care while upholding the highest standards of clinical excellence, ethical integrity, and patient-centered service. The Senior Registrar will operate under the supervision of the Consultant or Head of Emergency Room, ensuring adherence to CBAHI, JCIA, and Ministry of Health regulations, as well as hospital by-laws and departmental quality plans.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Registrar ER Physician will be entrusted with a broad spectrum of responsibilities designed to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency within the Emergency Department. These include:

  • Patient Care and Clinical Excellence: Delivering superior medical treatment with compassion, ensuring every patient receives the highest standard of care through direct or indirect involvement in their treatment plans.
  • Professional Competence and Scope of Practice: Providing patient care within the defined parameters of clinical privileges, adhering to evidence-based medical standards, guidelines, and criteria.
  • Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Management: Contributing to the development and maintenance of medical contingency and disaster plans to ensure readiness for critical situations.
  • Quality Assurance and Supervision: Overseeing the triage system conducted by ER nurses, supervising assigned ER physicians, and maintaining the integrity of patient records with accurate, timely, and legible documentation.
  • Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures: Performing essential diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the scope of the specialty, as permitted by clinical privileges.
  • Patient Referral and Continuity of Care: Assessing and referring patients to appropriate medical facilities when necessary, ensuring seamless transitions in their care journey.
  • On-Call Responsibilities: Participating in the departmental on-call rota to provide immediate medical intervention and support during emergencies.
  • Ethical and Legal Compliance: Upholding patient rights, including confidentiality, privacy, and security, while ensuring compliance with hospital policies, local laws, and international accreditation standards.
  • Leadership in Quality Improvement: Leading performance-improvement initiatives by measuring, assessing, and enhancing both clinical and non-clinical processes as part of the Departmental Quality Plan.
  • Continuing Medical Education (CME): Actively engaging in CME activities, including hospital-based educational programs (morning reports, grand rounds, journal clubs), national and international conferences, and symposia to stay abreast of advancements in emergency medicine.
  • Training and Mentorship: Participating in training programs for junior medical staff, nursing personnel, and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Patient and Family Education: Educating patients and their families on health promotion, disease prevention, and treatment plans, ensuring they are informed participants in their care. This includes documenting educational interactions in patient records.
  • Committee Participation: Contributing to key hospital committees, such as Quality Improvement and Infection Control, to drive organizational excellence and patient safety.
  • Adaptability and Professional Development: Continuously updating medical knowledge and upgrading clinical skills to maintain proficiency in the ever-evolving field of emergency medicine.

Job Specifications

To qualify for this prestigious role, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited medical school with a recognized degree in Medicine (MD, MBBS, or equivalent).
  • Board Certification: Certification in Emergency Medicine or a related specialty from a recognized board or equivalent qualification.
  • Licensure: Valid medical license to practice in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, issued by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) or equivalent authority.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of postgraduate experience in Emergency Medicine, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role within an accredited healthcare facility.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable to facilitate effective communication with patients and staff.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in advanced emergency medical procedures, diagnostic tools, and electronic health record systems.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a strong commitment to patient advocacy and team collaboration.
